Scarlet Street was the debut of Diana Productions, the semi-independent production<br />

company Lang founded in 1945 with actress Joan Bennett (who participates in this movie)<br />

and her husband, Walter Wanger. Initially, the objective of Wanger, Lang and Bennett in<br />

establishing Diana Productions was to find a way of dealing with the numerous changes<br />

American cinema was going through. However, Fritz Lang soon realised that semi-<br />
