many places <strong>in</strong> the county that are good for wildlife <strong>and</strong> are wonderful places to explore <strong>and</strong> enjoy.<br />

take our monthly Biodiversity challenge <strong>and</strong> go wild <strong>in</strong> roscommon!<br />

MARCH<br />

Explore the ancient oak-ash <strong>and</strong> hazel woodl<strong>and</strong> at St.<br />

John’s Wood, Lecarrow; search for Spr<strong>in</strong>g-time signs of<br />

life- catk<strong>in</strong>s (clusters of t<strong>in</strong>y flowers on hazel, willow or<br />

JULy<br />

Walk along the banks of the Boyle River <strong>and</strong> keep you<br />

eyes peeled for the shy K<strong>in</strong>gfisher <strong>and</strong> Grey wagtails;<br />

try to spot the shimmer<strong>in</strong>g w<strong>in</strong>gs of dragonflies <strong>and</strong><br />

NOVEMBER<br />

Visit Lough Ree <strong>in</strong> the w<strong>in</strong>ter months <strong>and</strong> try to spot<br />

some of our w<strong>in</strong>ter visitors <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Greenl<strong>and</strong> white<br />

APRIL<br />

Walk <strong>in</strong> the beautiful Bluebell Woods at Derrynask<strong>in</strong>een<br />

near Knockvicar, <strong>and</strong> take only photographs <strong>and</strong> memories<br />

AUGUST<br />

Take a hike along the Suck Valley Way, a long-distance<br />

way-marked trail <strong>and</strong> enjoy some of <strong>Roscommon</strong>’s<br />

natural habitats- bogs, farml<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> callows.<br />

DECEMBER<br />

Walk off the Christmas d<strong>in</strong>ner with friends <strong>and</strong> family<br />

<strong>in</strong> your local park, woodl<strong>and</strong> or along a quiet stretch of<br />

road where you can get some fresh air <strong>and</strong> contact with<br />
