Description:
Atussocky, perennial grass, flowering stem up to 60 cm high. Leaves narrowly linear
to acuminate up to 25 cm long and 2 to 3 mm broad. Panicle up to 20 cm long,
elliptical or pyramidal. Lower branches verticillate. Seeds 0.8 to 1.2 mm long. The
species can be distinguished from S. kentrophyllus by its stiff, pungent, inrolled
glaucous leaves.
Flowering Period:
March to October.
Habitat:
Arid and semi-arid areas.Atypical desert species.
Uses:
Grazed by livestock.
Distribution:
Pakistan, SaudiArabia, Iran and India.
