Nyx Wolfwalker
Thank you for taking the time to visit my web site. I am a
freelance Computer Graphic Artist and Web Designer,
and am a graduate of Trent University, with a BA in
Native Studies. I am also a College Student attending
BCCC, and have earned two college certificates, one in
Arts Fundamental Design and one in Digital Publishing. I
now also have a Diploma in New Media Design.
I love dogs and used to have a Female Standard Schnauzer
(Bliss), and I have two Parrots, a Female Senegal Parrot
(Dea Dea), and a Male Timneh African Grey (Mnidoo
Giizis), I also now have a new companion a Male Wirehaired Pointing Griffon
(Griff).
As you know my name is Nyx Wolfwalker, the name Nyx has both Greek and
African origins, in Greek the name means GODDESS OF THE NIGHT. Nyx also
known as Nox, was a daughter of Chaos, who became the wife of Erebos and bore
to him two children, Aether and Hemera. Nyx was looked on as the goddess of the
night, and to her was attributed power over illness, suffering, dreams, misfortunes,
quarrels, war, murder, sleep and death. In fact, anything inexplicable or frightening
that befell men was attributed to her. She was supposed to occupy a place in the
lower world of the Greeks, together with Day. When this latter entered the palace,
Nyx would ride out in a black chariot drawn by two dark steeds, and accompanied
by many stars, she would traverse the heavens until daybreak, when she would
return to the palace. She was depicted as a serious figure clad in long heavy
drapery, on her head a black star-spangled veil. She sprouted black wings, and
carried two children in her arms. One was black (Death), the other white (Sleep). In
African Nyx means GODDESS OF LIGHT.
I have been practising for over 18 years, I am not Wiccan though much of be
system of belief does follow that path. I am what is known as a PathWalker ...
Someone who walks many paths from many parts and combines them along the
way. Granted a pathwalker is much like what is now called electic wicca which
also take from areas and combines them. However the pathwalker's basis is not
rooted in wicca but in that of the Native American belief system. A pathwalker
walks his or her own path, but unlike wicca which quotes the words of harm no one
there is only one basis that a pathwalker follows and that is "walk the path of
knowledge, learn where you can and follow the mothers laws". Although this
sounds like green wicca, pathwalking is far older then wicca. Pathwalking has its
origins in Native American Shamanism.
What else can I say about myself? Well, I'm a Libra and my favourite animals are
the Wolf and the Cheetah. My primary totem animal is the Wolf, actually two
wolves one male and the other female, The male wolf is a Newfoundland wolf
which is now extinct, and the female is a Arctic Wolf. My secondary totem
animals, from what I have learned, are the Falcon, Swan, Blue Jay, Cougar,
Panther, Coyote, Hawk, and Eagle who help when they are needed. I know there
are others, two which help me but these are the primary ones that I know help me
on a constant bases.
