for virtually every act we take involves harm to something or someone. When we walk on the grass, the<br />

weight of our footsteps crushes some of the plants. Every meal we eat comes to us at the cost of at least<br />

one life, whether it be the death of an animal or plant, or the sacrifice of the life-to-be embodied in an egg<br />

or a fruit.<br />

Perhaps in the end we should be practising the sort of conservator ethic that applies on a lifeboat adrift at<br />

sea: to minimise waste just as we strive to limit suffering. And when we walk out under the starry sky at<br />

night, we may see more clearly that our Earth is a lifeboat, and that may impel use to give more attention<br />

to our many duties as Witches. So, we can better understand the Wiccan Rede and our duty of care if we<br />

look at it in terms of relative harm rather than absolute harm.<br />

The real test of our devotion to the Craft, the Earth and the Gods may be our continual awareness that all<br />

of our actions could cause harm to someone or something, and that our central duty is to refrain from<br />

needlessly harmful acts.<br />

General information: Attracting Positive Energy<br />

Positive energy could come in the form of a new job, new relationship, sudden burst of<br />

happy energy, or just about any new form. The following are lists of things to do when<br />

you're feeling stuck in a rut, or depressed...<br />

Try and clear away some of the stale negative energy. Maybe clean through your<br />

belongings and get rid of the ones you no longer need. Forgive all past angers and ask to be<br />

forgive by anyone whose angry at you.<br />

Say goodbye to old blocks. If you're one of those people who routinely thinks "oh, I couldn't do that.." or<br />

"I'm not good enough..." then you're sabotaging yourself. Can you think of where you picked up those<br />

beliefs? Start noticing when you put yourself down and do your best to change your way of thinking.<br />

You can do what you are meant to do, and you are good enough. Start focusing on positive things. Write<br />

a list of good things about yourself.<br />

Use positive affirmations, such as "I am a wonderful creative person" or "I have everything I need to<br />

enjoy my here and now." Affirmations are short positive comments that are made in the present tense.<br />

(You say "I am... " not "I will be....".) These can be written down, or repeated through out the day, or<br />

however you find works best for you.<br />

Use Creative Visualization. If you can't picture yourself being happy, how do you expect to become<br />

happy? A simple visualization might simply be sitting quietly and picture a light shining down over you,<br />

filling you with joy.<br />

Send positive energy out to other people!! Do good deeds in secret. Give to the Universe, and trust the<br />

Universe will be generous in return.<br />

Be kind to your body. Your body is a marvelous, wonderful part of you. Treat it kindly. Drink enough<br />

water. Give it loving excercise, and the nutrients it needs. One of the ways I do this is by throwing<br />

various fruits into a blender and making a thick healthy mixture to drink. Snack on carrots. A healthy<br />

body is magic.<br />

Be thankful. Say thanks for all the wonderful things in your life.<br />
