Salute to the Moon
This is something that you can do anywhere at any time that the moon is visible. First the
pinky finger and the index finger are held up while the other fingers are closed with the
thumb over them. Kiss the fingers that are closed and hold your hand up to the Moon, palm
facing out and frame the Moon between the two extended fingers. Thats it! Pretty simple,
huh?
Full Moon Rite
This is a simple ritual that you can do when there is a full moon. The moon is the symbol of the Goddess.
It's sort of like her special day. For this ritual if your parents are helping you than you can light a candle,
if not than instead of a candle use anything that reminds you of the Goddess. It could be a picture you
drew, or an object that makes you think of her. Any moon symbols would work too.
Look at your moon symbol (or if your parents are helping, Light a Goddess candle) and say:
Mother strong, Mother of light. come to me and bring you might. help me make my dreams come true.
Show me how to be like you. Moonbeams shine down from above. sending me your rays of love.
Strength and love please give to me. This is my will, so mote it be!
Stare at the Moon. Pretend that you are walking around on the Moon with the Goddess. Whenever you
see the Moon remember that she loves you and protects you.
New Moon Wishing spell
Legend has it that if you make a wish while gazing up at the new Moon in August by the end of the year,
your wish will come true. This spell usually requires the use of a white candle, so you can either assist
your child in this by lighting the candle and supervising (I suggest using a tea light or a birthday candle.)
or you can improvise with a flashlight, a nightlight, or the light of a fish tank. Have them gaze into, or
near the light. (***Don't let
them look directly into the light if you are using a flashlight, or anyother bright light.) Have them raise
their arms up to the sky with both palms facing up and say:
"Star light, Moon bright, Blessed Goddess, bring your might Grant this wish I make tonight."
Now have your child say her wish three times, then say:
"Three times the wish is made I thank the Gods for their aid. Please grant this wish for me, This is my
will, so mote it be!"
