The fol<strong>low</strong>ing recreational fishermen<br />

and hunters are not required to<br />

obtain a basic recreational fishing<br />

license, saltwater license, basic hunting<br />

license, big game license or<br />

migratory waterfowl conservation<br />

license, but must have pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> age in<br />

their possession whenever fishing or<br />

hunting:<br />

1. Residents who reached age 60<br />

prior to June 1, 2000;<br />

2. Residents and non-<strong>res</strong>idents<br />

younger than 16 years <strong>of</strong> age.<br />

miLitary<br />

Military licenses are valid only<br />

during that time when the licensee<br />

is on active duty in the armed<br />

forces <strong>of</strong> the United States.<br />

Any <strong>res</strong>ident or non<strong>res</strong>ident who<br />

possesses a military identification<br />

card that signifies that he is currently<br />

on active duty with any one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

armed forces <strong>of</strong> the United States,<br />

including the National Guard, or the<br />

spouse or dependent <strong>of</strong> such person,<br />

may be issued a license for hunting or<br />

recreational fishing in <strong>Louisiana</strong> for<br />

the fee as that required <strong>of</strong> <strong>Louisiana</strong><br />

<strong>res</strong>idents. The military identification<br />

card or dependent card and the appropriate<br />

license must be on the licensee's<br />

person at all times when he is<br />

engaged in hunting and fishing activities.<br />

Any <strong>Louisiana</strong> <strong>res</strong>ident who submits<br />

pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> his status as a active<br />

member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Louisiana</strong> National<br />

Guard or any <strong>res</strong>erve component <strong>of</strong><br />

the United States armed forces,<br />

though not currently on active duty,<br />

may purchase in lieu <strong>of</strong> Basic and<br />

Saltwater Fishing, Basic <strong>Hunting</strong>,<br />

Big Game, Bow, Primitive Firearms,<br />

LA. Duck, Turkey Stamp and WMA<br />

<strong>Hunting</strong> Permit, a license for $50.00<br />

LiFetime Licenses<br />

Lifetime hunting licenses include basic hunting, big game hunting,<br />

primitive firearms, bow hunting, state waterfowl license, turkey license<br />

and WMA hunting permit.<br />

Lifetime licenses are available from the Baton Rouge <strong>of</strong>fice<br />

only. Al<strong>low</strong> three weeks processing time. Applicants are required to<br />

have lived in <strong>Louisiana</strong> for the immediate twelve months prior to making<br />

application to qualify for <strong>res</strong>ident rates. Mandatory documents<br />

required with application are a valid LA driver's license issued a minimum<br />

<strong>of</strong> 12 months and one <strong>of</strong> the fol<strong>low</strong>ing:<br />

1. <strong>Louisiana</strong> voter's registration card<br />

2. <strong>Louisiana</strong> vehicle registration or<br />

3. two previous year's state tax filing, stamped by <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

Revenue and Taxation.<br />

License exceptions & exemptions<br />

to fish and hunt in <strong>Louisiana</strong>. Submit<br />

completed application with a copy <strong>of</strong><br />

the applicants:<br />

1. <strong>Louisiana</strong> Driver's license,<br />

2. Military identification card,<br />

3. Original letter from their commanding<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficer verifying that<br />

they are in "good standing" with<br />

the <strong>Louisiana</strong> National Guard or<br />

United States armed forces and<br />

4. money order for $50.00. Mail to:<br />

Resident veterans having a<br />

permanent service-connected disability<br />

classification <strong>of</strong> 50 percent<br />

or more and <strong>res</strong>idents who are<br />

blind, paraplegic or multiple amputee<br />

shall upon identification and pro<strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> disability satisfactory to LDWF, be<br />

issued sports hunting license without<br />

the payment <strong>of</strong> any fees there<strong>of</strong>.<br />

sociaL security,<br />

raiLroad, state and<br />

pubLic subdivision<br />

disabiLity retirement<br />

recipients<br />

A <strong>res</strong>ident who is totally and permanently<br />

disabled and receiving a disability<br />

social security benefit may<br />

submit a current award letter from<br />

Social Security (SSI does not qualify)<br />

and a valid <strong>Louisiana</strong> Driver's license<br />

to qualify. A <strong>res</strong>ident who receives<br />

disability retirement income from a<br />

retirement system whose members<br />

are exempt from federal social security,<br />

either pursuant to the Railroad<br />

Retirement Insurance Act, 45 U.S.C.<br />

231, or because they are employees <strong>of</strong><br />

a state or a political subdivision <strong>of</strong> the<br />

state that has not voluntarily agreed to<br />

participate in federal social security<br />

under 42 U.S.C. 418, may qualify to<br />

purchase a <strong>res</strong>ident basic hunting<br />

(includes WMA hunting permit), <strong>res</strong>ident<br />

big game hunting, <strong>res</strong>ident primitive<br />

firearm, and a <strong>res</strong>ident bow<br />

license at a fee <strong>of</strong> $5 each. Contact the<br />

required documents. These licenses<br />

are available by mail or at the Baton<br />

Rouge <strong>of</strong>fice only.<br />

bona Fide <strong>res</strong>ident<br />

1. Any person who has <strong>res</strong>ided in<br />

this state continuously during the<br />

12 months immediately prior to<br />

the date on which he applies for<br />

any license and who has manifested<br />

his intent to remain in this<br />

state by establishing <strong>Louisiana</strong> as<br />

his legal domicile, as demonstrated<br />

by compliance with all <strong>of</strong><br />

the fol<strong>low</strong>ing, as applicable:<br />

a. If registered to vote, he is registered<br />

to vote in <strong>Louisiana</strong>.<br />

b. If licensed to drive a motor<br />

vehicle, he is in possession <strong>of</strong><br />

a valid <strong>Louisiana</strong> drivers<br />

license.<br />

c. If owning a motor vehicle<br />

located within <strong>Louisiana</strong>, he<br />

is in possession <strong>of</strong> a valid<br />

<strong>Louisiana</strong> registration for that<br />

vehicle.<br />

d. If earning an income, he has<br />

filed a <strong>Louisiana</strong> state income<br />

tax return and has complied<br />

with state income tax laws<br />

and regulations.<br />

2. Any person, corporation or other<br />

legal entity which posses a <strong>res</strong>ident<br />

license from any state or<br />

country other than <strong>Louisiana</strong><br />

shall not qualify for a <strong>res</strong>ident<br />

hunting license in <strong>Louisiana</strong>.
