Either-sex deer may be taken in all<br />
areas open for deer hunting exCePT<br />
when a bucks only season is in prog<strong>res</strong>s<br />
for gun hunting and exCePT in<br />
Area 6 from Oct. 1-15. In such cases,<br />
archers must conform to the bucks<br />
only regulations. Either-sex deer may<br />
be taken on WMAs at anytime during<br />
archery season exCePT when bucks<br />
only seasons are in prog<strong>res</strong>s on the<br />
<strong>res</strong>pective WMA. Also, archery season<br />
<strong>res</strong>tricted on Atchafalaya Delta,<br />
Salvador, Lake Boeuf and Pointeaux-Chenes<br />
WMAs. (See WMA for<br />
details).<br />
Bowhunting equipment<br />
Regulations:<br />
Longbow, compound bow and<br />
crossbow or any bow drawn, held or<br />
released by mechanical means will be<br />
a legal means <strong>of</strong> take for all properly<br />
licensed hunters. Bow and arrow fishermen<br />
must have a sport fishing<br />
license and not carry any arrows with<br />
broadhead points unless a big game<br />
season is in prog<strong>res</strong>s.<br />

Land<br />
Oct. 1-2, <strong>2011</strong> and Oct. 6-7,<br />
<strong>2012</strong>. Restricted to individuals with<br />

Refer to LAC 76:V.111 for specific<br />
DMAP rules. Deer management<br />
assistance tags must be in the possession<br />
<strong>of</strong> the hunter in order to harvest<br />
an antlerless deer. The tag shall be<br />
attached through the hock in such a<br />
manner that it cannot be removed<br />
before the deer is transported (including<br />
those taken on either-sex days and<br />
those taken with approved archery<br />
equipment or primitive firearms).<br />
Failure to do so is violation <strong>of</strong> R.S.<br />
56:115. Antlerless deer harvest on<br />
property enrolled in DMAP does not<br />
count in the season or daily bag limit<br />
for hunters. Failing to fol<strong>low</strong> DMAP<br />
rules and regulations may <strong>res</strong>ult in<br />
suspension and cancellation <strong>of</strong> the<br />
program on those lands involved.<br />
DMAP participants must fol<strong>low</strong> the<br />
deer season schedule established for<br />
their <strong>res</strong>pective areas.<br />
