See page 4 for exceptions. A big game license is required in addition to the basic hunting license to hunt, take, possess or cause to be transported any deer or turkey. A separate wild turkey license is required in addition to the basic hunting license and the big game license to hunt, take, possess or cause to be transported any turkey. The rules and regulations contained within this digest have been officially approved and adopted by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission under authority vested by Section 115 of Title 56 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 and are considered to be in full force and effect in hunter education reQuirements conjunction with all applicable statutory laws. The Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has authority to close or alter seasons in emergency situations in order to protect fish and wildlife resources. Pursuant to Act 169 of the 1988 regular session of the Legislature, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission has adopted monetary values which are assigned to all illegally taken, possessed, injured or destroyed fish, wild birds, wild quadrupeds and other wildlife and aquatic life. Anyone taking, possessing, injuring or destroying fish, wild birds, wild quadrupeds and other wildlife and aquatic life shall be required to reimburse LDWF a sum of money equal to the value of the wildlife illegally taken, possessed, injured or destroyed. This monetary reimbursement shall be in addition to any and all criminal penalties imposed for the illegal act. No person born on or after Sept. 1, 1969, shall procure a hunting license of any kind, unless that person has been issued a certificate of satisfactorily completion of a Hunter Education course approved by LDWF. • exCePT a person born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 who has not completed a hunter education course may be issued a license with the restriction that they are accompanied by, and under the direct supervision of a person 18 years of age or older who has a valid hunting license or proof of successful completion of a hunter education course. “Direct Supervision” means that the person being supervised shall be within normal audible voice proximity and in direct line of sight of the supervising adult at all times while hunting. • exCePT This requirement shall not apply to any active or veteran member of the United States armed services or any POST-certified law enforcement officer who may be issued a hunter education exemption. Application for this exemption may be filed at the LDWF office in Baton Rouge (225-765-2932) or any field office.
