have no consistent parental acceptance and discipline. This diagnosis<br />
should be distinguished from Antisocial personality (q.v.), Runaway<br />
reaction of childhood (or adolescence) (q.v.), and Group delinquent<br />
reaction of childhood (or adolscence) (q.v.).<br />
308.5* Group delinquent reaction of childhood (or adolescence<br />
) *<br />
Individuals with this disorder have acquired the values, behavior,<br />
and skills of a delinquent peer group or gang to whom they are loyal<br />
and with whom they characteristically steal, skip school, and stay<br />
out late at night. The condition is more common in boys than girls.<br />
When group delinquency occurs with girls it usually involves sexual<br />
delinquency, although shoplifting is also common.<br />
308.9* Other reaction of childhood (or adolescence)*<br />
Here are to be classified children and adolescents having disorders<br />
not described in this group but which are nevertheless more serious<br />
than transient situational disturbances and less serious than psychoses,<br />
neuroses, and personality disorders. The particular disorder should<br />
be specified.<br />

316* Social maladjustments without manifest psychiatric disorder<br />
This category is for recording the conditions of individuals who are<br />
psychiatrically normal but who nevertheless have severe enough problems<br />
to warrant examination by a psychiatrist. These conditions may<br />
either become or precipitate a diagnosable mental disorder.<br />
316.0* Marital maladjustment*<br />
This category is for individuals who are psychiatrically normal but<br />
who have significant conflicts or maladjustments in marriage.<br />
316.1* Social maladjustment*<br />
This category is for individuals thrown into an unfamiliar culture<br />
(culture shock) or into a conflict arising from divided loyalties to<br />
two cultures.
