STRAWBERRY RIDGE FRIENDSHIP CLUB
By: Pat Tracy 653-1110 or 404-1190
Our February get together was a very successful Valentine's Day dinner at our local Ruby Tuesdays here in Valrico.
There were twenty five residents and new guests who attended and all seated in our own little private area at tables of
four. Single Red Roses were given to the ladies and Red Chocolate Hearts were presented to our gentlemen. We were
not rushed through our dinner and enjoyed sitting and chatting with our friends even though the restaurant was packed for
Valentine's Day. True hospitality! Anyone interested in a 25% off coupon for dining out at a Ruby Tuesdays before the
date of March 5, 2013 please give me a call at 813-653-1110 while the supply lasts. A gift of Friendship!
Our March meeting of Sunday the 17th falls on St .Patrick's Day and an afternoon dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage is
planned to be held at O'Brien's Irish Pub in Brandon. Reservations are a must one week before then because of the place
and date. A sign up sheet will be at the Clubhouse and open to any resident or newcomer who would like to join us that
afternoon or you may call 813-653-1110. It is with great pride that we say that the Friendship Club is one of True Friendship.
STRAWBERRY RIDGE VETERANS CLUB
By: Terry M. Bobb, Secretary 661-3052
Mark your calendars: Monthly meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2013 at 7:00 PM in the main room of the Activities
Center. All Veterans are welcome to attend.
We finally had enough members attend our last meeting to conduct our election of officers. They are as follows:
President: Marty Sullivan
Vice President: Noel Palmertree
Secretary/Treasurer: Terry Bobb
The terms of office will be for two (2) years. Even though we were not able to get new blood into office, the Board would
greatly appreciate your support and your volunteering to help during our functions.
We also had an excellent speaker at our last meeting from Liberty Manor for Veterans. The Executive Director informed
us of the basis of the organization and for all of the work they have been doing for the homeless veterans in the Tampa
area.
Please support our Veterans and don’t forget our on-going donations for the Haley Cove Community Living Center. Call
me if you need the items picked up or have any questions.
For the new residents, our Club is open to Veterans of all branches of service as well as the veterans of our allied nations.
If you should have any questions, please feel free to call me or visit our next meeting.

STRAWBERRY SINGERS
By: Sylvia Haywood - 436-0387
It is almost time!!! On Saturday evening, March 23, 2013 at 7:00 PM, in the Clubhouse, the StrawBerry Singers will help
you "Get Happy" with old familiar songs that will tickle your fancy and, hopefully, put a smile on your face. Our Director
Don Head and all the members of the Singers delight in preparing and presenting two concerts each year, one at Christmas
and one to welcome Spring into our lives. It really gives us a wonderful feeling of accomplishment to see the smiles
and hear the wonderful compliments after our show. We would love to share those feelings with you, so please consider
joining the StrawBerry Singers in the Fall when we once again prepare to entertain the residents of the best place in Florida
to live and enjoy life!
Have a wonderful summer! Have fun, but be safe - we need to see you here for our next concert! God Bless America!
STRAWBERRY RIDGE SEWING AND CRAFT CLUB
By: Terry Bobb, Chairman 661-3052
Our Annual Craft Fair is scheduled for October 12, 2013 and I already have six (6) tables reserved. It is not too early to
be thinking about the possibility of selling some of your own hand made crafts. You will have several months to prepare,
so this is food for thought.
Several of our members are crocheting twin sized afghans to be donated to Liberty Manor for Veterans. This organization
provides housing for the homeless veterans in the Tampa area. A heartfelt “Thank You” for those who have donated
afghans. This is such a worthwhile project and we enjoy doing what we can for those who served their country. We will
also accept any donations of yarn and we will make the Afghans.
Our club is open to all residents who enjoy crafting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. We meet every Monday afternoon
from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Craft Room located in the Ceramics Shop. Visitors are also welcome at any time. Bring
your project and join us for a couple hours of fun and conversation. We don’t have officers and we don’t collect dues.
This is just an informal group who has a lot of fun on Mondays.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at the number listed above.
FUN AND GAMES
MAH JONGG
By: Carolyn Hamilton 728-6399
We welcome spring this month after being blessed with a great Florida winter. Sandy Pagano won first place with 18
games while second place was won by Pat Wierzbicki and me with 12 games each. Pat will be moving soon to be near her
children. She sure enjoys playing Mah Jongg and we sure hope she will remain with us for at least three more months. In
third place with 11 games each was Mary Bergen and Ruth Tashman. Mary had a good month with the wedding of her son
Paul. Ruth’s month was not so good as she totaled her car in an accident. So sorry Ruth! We of the Mah Jongg group
wish you a fun St. Patties day and a happy Easter.
spite of half of us losing every week we still have a lot of fun trying.
We will be checking on these items and have a response to you at a later date.
Items checked on with management:
(1) If a tree is blown down due to storms and falls on a home, it is the homeowner’s responsibility for the tree and
damages through their homeowners insurance. If the tree falls across the road the roadway, it is management’s responsibility
to remove it.
(2) the solar systems at the outdoor pool will only keep the pool warm if the sun is shining. If there is no sun there
will be no warm pool.
Please come and check out your new RAC Committee at our next meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in
the Activity Center. You are always welcome.

When my grandson asked me how old I was, I
teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your
underwear, Grandpa," he advised "Mine says
I'm 4 to 6."
If at first you don't succeed,
skydiving is not for you.
Eagles may soar, but
weasels don't get
sucked into
jet engines.
A second grader came home from school and
said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess
what? We learned how to make babies today."
The grandmother, more than a little surprised,
tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting." she
said... "How do you make babies?"
"It's simple," replied the girl.. "You just change
'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."
My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma,
do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished
my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?'' "You're both old,"
he replied.
My Grandparents
are funny, when
they bend over,
you hear gas leaks
and they blame
their dog.
