Many of you may not know that we have
a “Members Only” section of the website.
This section features all of our upcoming
events and what’s happening at the club on
a regular basis. Each member is given a user
name and password to access this section of
the web site. If you do not have access currently,
please call Deanna Delgado or email
her at ddelgado@egyachtclub.com. She will
reset your access for you.

Sunday Brunch
Each week we host Sunday Brunch at the
club in the Main Dining Room. It is a
wonderful value at $16.95++ and $9.95++
for children (3 and under are complementary).
It’s the best brunch in town for its value
and includes an Omelet Station with a variety
of toppings and fillings, Slow Roasted
Prime Rib of Beef, Breakfast items including
Grits, Bacon and Sausage, Seafood Entrees,
Hot Lunch Entrees, Extensive Salad
Bar, Fresh Fruit Display, Imported and Domestic
Cheeses, Bread Pudding with Vanilla
Sauce, Assorted Cakes, Pies and Tortes...

Commodore, Ladies Bunco, the Women’s

and speakers, similar to the Men’s Captains
Table which is hosted every Tuesday
and Women’s and Men’s Bridge on varying

From the Helm...
I want to thank all the
members who attended
the Commodore’s Ball and
Change of Watch Ceremony.
While we had some
unseasonably cold weather
outside, the warmth shown
to my family and friends

was truly outstanding. Loraine and her team did
a fabulous job decorating the club, it truly looked
like a Yacht Club. Chef Cook’s team prepared
terrific meals for both the Ball and Commodore’s
Brunch and Chris Whalen’s wait staff did an outstanding
job.
Due to high winds the Fleet Review on the
river was cancelled but the Flag Officers made
the rounds on the docks inspecting the boats. I
would like to congratulate Bruce Hess for winning
the Best Dressed Power Boat and Dentis
McDaniel who won the Commodore’s Cup for
the Best Dressed Ship. Hopefully next year we
can get the sailors to dress their vessels.
Congratulations to David Cote who was awarded
the Janet Joyne’s Employee Award for Member
Service. Please thank David for his outstanding
service to the membership when you see him.
Lunch with the Commodore is scheduled for
Thursday, April 25th this month due to a conflict
on Wednesday. We will be moving the lunch
back to Wednesday next month.
Upcoming Events: April 13th - the Tennis Committee
will be hosting the 2nd Annual EGYC
Olympics. This was a fun event last year and
should be even better this year. The Membership
Committee is having a Prospective Member
Mixer at the Dragon Point Bar Friday April
19th. Please contact the Membership Director
if there is someone you would like to invite to
the event. The weekend of April 26-28th the
club will be hosting a USPTA Grand Prix Tennis
Tournament. Matches begin Friday at 5pm
and run all day Saturday and Sunday. Plan on
attending the Players Party at the Harbor Grill
Saturday the 27th from 6 to 10pm. That same
weekend the Fleet will be cruising to Melbourne
Harbor for the annual Art Show. Please see the
Spray, Mainsail or website for more information
on these and other activities.
Results of the election: New Board of Governor
Al Dukes and Jon Reed were elected. The Bylaws
items passed and the dues increase was approved.

This month we will be
hosting our first Gourmet
Dinner Event. It is
the prelude of a Gourmet
Dinner Club that
we will be kicking off
this year. Chef Cook
will be offering a four
course gourmet dinner
at $45.00 ++. This
dinner is not about
the wine pairing but the food, wine, impeccable
service and the event itself. Chef
Cook will be present between each course
to offer a narrative of each dish served.
We will be unvailing our ideas of the set up
for the future Gourmet Dinner Club and all
of its benefits, objectives and features. The
focus will be on food and fine dining service.
There will be limited seating at this opening
dinner so please make your reservations
as soon as possible for the inaugural event.

Happy Hour
A la Carte Dining Reservations
Please call the club to make reservations for a la carte dining - so
we may accomodate you with outstanding service. Friday nights
are extremely busy at the club and we will continue to try and accomodate
all walk ins. However, members who make reservations
will always be accomodated first. Please make your reservation for
the time you would like to sit down and order. Also, allow for
ample time for cocktails beforehand when deciding on your reservation
time.
Club Function Reservations
Please call the club to make reservations for all Special Events or
Club Functions. Whether you decide to sit outside in a more casual
enviroment at the Harbor Grill or if you choose to sit inside in the
main clubhouse - your reservation is important in the head count
when preparing a buffet. This allows us to properly prepare for the
food and service necessary. We ask that you cancel your reservations
at least 48 hours before the event to avoid being charged in full.
Cancellation Policy
Please call the club at least 48 hours before any special event or club
function to avoid being charged in full for the event. We appreciate
your adherence to this practice and policy, so that we may budget
and plan appropriately.

The new menu has been released
and the feedback is
very positive. The kitchen
staff has worked diligently
on learning how to prepare
these delightful selections
and the partial order
of new china adds to the
presentation. We have additionally ordered
dinner plates and bread plates with the club
logo and burgee on them.They should arrive
sometime this summer. Please remember
to leave your comments and suggestions on
the new comment cards available from your
servers or found in your check covers. Your
feedback will help us to continue to provide
a variety of offerings and selections based on
member requests.
Easter and Mother’s Day mark the arrival of
Spring and their Brunches are two of my favorite
holidays to cook for. The menus are
always extensive, the membership enjoys
partaking in the culinary delights, and the
staff (as always) works diligently during the
Holidays.

EGYC Kidz Club
Get Ready for Fun!
EGYC Kidz Club Logo Contest
A group of 10-12 year old youth, decided
to form a focus group and have been meeting
regularly at the club with Mrs. Vienne,
to discuss ideas for youth activities.
Currently, we are working on a logo for
the newly formed “EGYC Kidz Club”. If
you have any ideas or would like to make
a suggestion for a logo- we will be taking
submissions until April 30th. To make a
submission, you must be 16 years of age or
younger. Submissions must use the phrase
“EGYC Kidz Club” and focus on a nautical
theme centering around the yacht club and
its youth. Please make all submissions in a
final format which can be easily scanned
and include your name, age and membership
number. We will be selecting the winning
logo for the June Newsletter.
Cardboard Boat Clinic in May
Carboard Boat Races, are right around the
corner. Labor Day weekend will be here before
you know it. Have you started thinking
about building your boat and replacing
the “T” Boat hanging from the ceiling in
the Grill. It’s never to early to get started.
We will be hosting a “How to Build a Cardboard
Boat” clinic in May. So, watch the
Spray for upcoming details and dates. Mark
your calendars now for September and don’t
miss out on all the fun!

Harbor Grill Happenings
New Menu & the Harbor Grill
A new menu for the Harbor Grill is coming
soon. It will feature many items similar to the
offerings of the main clubhouse’ a new grill
menu with a casual flair. We will be featuring
great Paninis and a variety of flatbreads
to delight everyones tastes.
Please be aware that the new clubhouse
menu, is fantastic and we appreciate each
members desire to experience the new menu
and great tapas selections. However, we will
no longer be able to serve the inside clubhouse
menu at the Harbor Grill.
Although, this practice was executed with
the past menu, the main kitchen cannot accomodate
orders from the new menu for the
Grill and service the members in the Main
Dining room at the same time.
We realize many people like the more casual
atmosphere of the Grill, but for the continued
success of the new menu and quality of
food and service for all members in the main
clubhouse; there will be no exceptions to this
policy. If you would like to order from the
inside menu, you will either need to make
reservations for the Main Clubhouse or eat
at the high tops, Dragon Point Bar or in the
Lounge areas.

We will always try and accomodate large parties
at the Grill. However, tables cannot be
reserved and are available on a first come first
serve basis. If you are coming to the Club for
a special occasion and would like to sit outside
in a more casual dining atmosphere, we
will be happy to accomodate you outside of
the Main Dining Room and serve you from
the main kitchen. Please make reservations
for special parties of 12 or more through
Chris Whalen, Food & Beverage Director.
We will then be able to have the appropriate
staff available to accomodate you and your
party. Our ultimate goal is to provide you
with the best customer service possible and
a great member experience.
Please Note* -with the growing popularity of the
Grill - we ask that you please do not place orders
with the cooks at the counter. They are very busy
cooking orders and often forget when someone
places an order with them without a ticket. This
Summer we will be hiring a counter person specifically
to take orders for all the kids and members

I am excited to serve as Fleet
Captain for a second year and
look forward to continuing
to improve our club facilities,
activities and involvement.
In April, the weather starts to
get much better and our boating
opportunities increase
dramatically. The next big
cruise, and the start to our true cruising season,
is the Melbourne Art Festival April 26-28. Short
cruise down the river, but a great time every year.
So far, we have 12 boats signed up to go. If you
would like to join the fun, please contact Dockmaster
Carl Nielsen.
In May, we have our Annual Fishing Tournament
on May 18th. There are categories for inshore and
offshore fishing. The tournament has grown every
year and looks to be even better this year. Look for
details and entry forms in the next few weeks. If
you can’t fish that day, but would like to volunteer
at the weigh in, please drop me a line.
If you have a boating event, regatta, trip or good
fish story to share, please drop me a line. The variety
and level of events our members participate in
are wonderful to hear about and share.

World Series in Naples, Italy. This is the first part of a
‘summer of racing’ leading up to the America’s Cup Finals
in San Francisco Septmeber 7-21st. The races from

ARTIC DRILLING
Some months ago an article here told of the existence of a more-orless
ice-free route available for some months of the year, which would
allow ship passage from Russia to China through the Arctic Ocean,
above Canada and Alaska. The article pointed out that in addition to
maritime commerce, the ice-free areas would allow access for oil and gas exploration, and
would eventually result in production of these valuable hydrocarbons.
Last year Royal Dutch Shell got the necessary permits, and began exploration. The company
ran into many problems, a drilling ship ran aground, another had an engine room
fire, and generally bad weather caused equipment damage. To top it off, the ice-free season
was shorter than expected. Shell has announced there will be no exploration activities
this season while the ships and drilling rigs are in a Korean shipyard for repairs.
Environmentalists hope that this marks the end of all such drilling attempts. And maybe
global warming proponents in the meantime will explain the shortened ice-free season.

From the Director to the
FLORIDA COUNCIL
OF YACHT CLUBS

First let me thank Commodore Peter Heinen for the opportunity to
serve our club as the Director to the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs for the upcoming year. I
consider it a privilege to represent our fine club at the bi-monthly meetings. Tim Findley will
serve as the Alternate Director. I also want to thank Jon Williams for his service as Director for
our club for the past several years. He has done a fine job and I hope to continue that tradition.
On the weekend of March 8-10, many of our members travelled to the Isles Yacht Club in
Punta Gorda for the general meeting of the Council, with 37 of the 38 clubs in attendance.
In addition, it was the Change of Watch for the FCYC. We were able to celebrate the installation
of the new Commodore, Ray Starsman (Isles Club) and his bridge and we wish him
well in the coming year. Our own Dentis McDaniel ended his time on the executive committee
(over ten years), stepping down as Immediate Past Commodore. Also, Jon Williams was
recognized for his service as Fleet Captain East. Our club has a long tradition of service and
dedication to the FCYC. Members attending this weekend were Ed and Marlow Baranowski,
John and Andrea Hogan, P/C Bruce and Carol Hess, Bill and Margie Matheson, P/C Dentis and
Jean McDaniel, Harry and Darlene Pawlak, John and Edy Williams and of course, Terri and I.
There were several interesting topics covered over the weekend. Of note was during
the Government Affairs session, we continue to monitor the E15 fuel issue as it effects
the marine industry. We have joined other boating groups in opposition of instituting
this due to the negative effects on the marine engine. Also, there was a presentation
from Raymarine on the latest in marine electronics. There is some pretty cool stuff
out there. One of the benefits of the council is that we police each other on how members
are treated when visiting and ensuring adherence to FCYC bylaws. Two clubs
had instituted policies that the council objected to and both rescinded the policies.
If you notice anything in your travels, please let me know. In addition, the FCYC is producing
a video featuring all 37 clubs to use as an informational piece to our members
about the Council. Look for a meeting in the future where we will present this video.
Finally, we had a tremendous time visiting with old friends and new during the social
hours and dinner. Saturday night we were treated to a wonderful dinner followed
by dancing and socializing until way too late for some of us. The next meeting of
the council will be on May 17-19 at the Harbor Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Stuart.

boating! I hope everyone is
taking advantage of this unusually
warm weather. The
waterfront at EGYC has been
booming and we are continuing
to expand its activities.

ing program we are implementing this summer.
EGYC used to be known for its competitive sailing
and I am excited to be involved in bringing it back
to the club. We are continuing to form an advisory
committee for the formation and planning
of the program - so if you are an avid sailor and
would like to participate, please let me know! I am
also looking for qualified instructors who not only
have experience but also a passion for sailing. If
you are interested or have suggestions of qualified
candidates please e-mail me at dock@egyachtclub.
com. On top of forming our program, we will be
purchasing Open Bics and 420 sailboats.
As we head into Spring, don’t forget our Kayaks
and Stand Up Paddleboards, complimentary for all
members to use on a first come basis. These watercrafts
are a great way to get out and explore the river
while getting good exercise. They are simple to use,
hard to flip, and are a sure way to have fun for the
day. Please remember all children under the age of
18 must sign an indemnity waiver and parental permission
form before they may utilize these crafts.
Also, Lifejackets must be worn at all times whether
you are an adult or child.
Lastly, you may have noticed when you look out
the window at the harbor, our docks are getting
more and more full. We have had some new boats
come in to our harbor and the main docks are finally
looking robust and busy again. However, I
still have room for you if you have a boat that is
less than 42’. Any slip is available for $6.00/foot
per month, plus .10c per kilowatt metered electric.
April should be another beautiful month here at
the club so get out and enjoy the water!

Sherra Cameruci
Having been transferred to Brevard
County from Ocala in 1994, where I
was associated with a developer, I knew
little of the area. It was in 2000 when
I was invited to dinner at the Eau Gallie
Yacht Club that I realized what a wonderful
facility I had been missing. I immediately
joined, and have never regretted
that decision. The friends I have made,
the committees I have served on and the
activities I have participated in have enriched
my life in our special community.
As we all engage in other activities, I also
have a passion for all types of fishing. Living
on the ocean gives me an opportunity
to walk out the door on a clear morning and
cast for whatever seems to be swimming
along the shore. I have also dabbled in fly
fishing and have had classes in fly tying.
In addition to my leisure activities, I own
Cameruci Reality, specializing in oceanfront
condominiums. As this is a bustling
market, it keeps me extremely busy.
I am fortunate to have my son, daughter
in law and two grandchildren who
not only live in the area, but enjoy our
pristine beaches.
I look forward to meeting many more
members of our club in the future.

arguably the best night of the week at our Club

utilizing our banquet and professional meeting

owners that may be interested in our available
slips, and innovative advertising approaches
consistent with our status as a private and notfor-profit
Club.
For those of you interested in helping to acclimate
our newest members, our Ambassador’s

own name and interest areas (boating, tennis,
fitness, poolside, etc) to Emily, who will contact
you occasionally to connect you with new
members with similar interests.

I am very excited to
bring the USPTA Grand
Prix Tournament back
to our Club this year.
After such great support
from our membership
last year; we will have
an even bigger and better
tournament at the
end of April. In an effort
to organize the best
tournament possible, we
are looking for sponsor-
ships. We will have different levels and more
information will be posted soon. I am sure that
all of you will help us put a great event together
and come out and support all the players.
Sabita, Rick and I will be playing and will
try our hardest to represent the Club in the
best way possible both on and off the court.
Last month, I played the first tournament of
the USPTA Grand Prix circuit in Delray Beach
and won both Singles and Doubles Draw.
In Singles, my opponent in the final was Mathieau
Soto from Delray Beach. After almost
two hours of exciting tennis I won 6-4 3-6 10-7.
In Doubles, I partnered with Franco Mata from
Naples and in the final we defeated Paulo Barros
from Winter Park and Eric Turnquist from Key
Largo. The score in the final was 6-4 1-6 10-3.

JENNA LOMAZZO, CERTIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Jenna Lomazzo connected with the movement and the spirit of body
at a young age. Her journey began with dance, which lead her to
study shiatsu, followed by pursuit of a career in massage therapy. In
1998, Jenna graduated from the highly revered Humanities Center
School of Massage and Allied Health. Then in 1999, she also graduated
from the Shiatsu Institute of St. Petersburg as a shiatsu practitioner.
Her passion for anatomy and healing drew her even further into
the yoga world, and strengthened her love for the craft. Before long, Jenna decided to
take on the challenge of completing the Bikram Yoga College of India teacher training
in Los Angeles, CA in 2002.
Later in 2005, Jenna’s unquenchable interest in eastern modalities and healing techniques
led her across the globe to Asia, where she studied Thai massage in Chiang Mai,
Thailand. She then traveled to Hong Kong to help open the world-renowned Pure Yoga
studios, where she spent four years teaching all styles of yoga. During her time in Asia,
Jenna had the enlightening opportunity to study with many of today’s great masters,
including Ana Forrest, Shiva Rae, the Jivamukti’s, Mark
Whitwell and John Friend. She was also honored to assist
and work closely with anatomy expert Ellen Heed.
Jenna is a certified yoga instructor, ERYT-500 with Yoga
Alliance. As well, in 2007, she graduated from Byron
Katie’s, “The School for the Work” in Los Angeles, and
incorporates this meditation technique into her practice
in order to further facilitate peaceful living.
This year I will be serving as

Women’s Council after serving
my first term on the council last

Three (3) new members have been added to the
Council: Sherra Cameruci, Carole Gatto and Deb
Kemps. The nine (9) returning members are:
Carolyn Baney, Lady Shirley Beirne, Linda Davis,
Becky Dukes, Susan Elam, Jodi Nunno, Denise
Roberts, Edy Williams and Carolyn Saxon.
The purpose of the Women’s Council is to serve as
advisors to the Commodore, Board of Governors,
and management. Our council also offers perspectives
on women’s opinions and issues as they relate
to club policies and programs and also plans and
promotes special activities for all the women of the
Club. Please feel free to discuss any issues or proposed
events you would like to present to the Women’s
Council with me or any of the other members.
On the third Wednesday of every month the Women’s
Council sponsors a luncheon called “Wine, Women
and Wednesday Buffet Lunch.” This monthly event
is open to all women at the Club as well as guests you
might like to bring with you for an informative and fun
lunch. The guest speaker for the April 17 luncheon is
Jenna Lomazzo, who is owner/instructor at The House
of Yoga in Indialantic. Please make reservations now
for you and your guest(s) and plan to arrive at the
Club at 11:00 a.m. for cocktails as the Buffet will start
at ll:30 a.m. and the Speaker will start at 12:15 p.m.
Bunko is also scheduled for the third Wednesday
of every month at 7:00 p.m. and is open to
all women at the Club as well as guests. Please
call the Club to reserve your spot at a table for the
April 17 game. The evening is lots of fun...not to
mention we share a few cocktails while playing!
Lastly, please mark your calendars for our Kentucky
Derby Party set for Saturday, May 4, 2013, from
4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You and your spouse may
want to start working on your outfits now since
there will be several prizes awarded for derby attire.
