Registration as Regnum Christi’s pilgrim
1. Important Facts
As we have informed earlier, group leaders must keep in touch with our committee via e-mail
at: grupos.rc@wydrio2013.org in order to make the registration on behalf of his/her group.
Fair share contribution
We need your help! The fair share will help the Regnum Christi Committee to organize RC’s own
events during WYD in order to integrate RC Members coming to the WYD. Donations are our main
income so if you have the chance to contribute, we encourage you to support us! As a compensation
for your aid, you will get an exclusive RC kit.
The link to contribute and get this kit is available at www.wydrio2013.org. You can only order a
minimum of 10 kits in order to make the delivery easier during the WYD. Every 10-kits order will get
an extra RC kit for free.
Depending on your payment date, the prices are the following:
Until May 30: R$50. After this date R$65.

New Regnum Christi’s Kit: “HAVAIANAS – Way to Rio”

In addition to the WYD Rio 2013’s official
welcome kit, Regnum Christi members will be able to get the
exclusive RC kit for the WYD Rio 2013 by contributing with their fair share.
The Regnum Christi Committee for the WYD Rio 2013 got an exclusive
contract with the worldwide famous brand Havaianas! We want to offer high
quality products for the pilgrims. This kit includes a towel, a customized bag
and a pair of Havaianas, ideal for the pilgrims coming to Rio de Janeiro.
News concerning housing during WYD for
~Regnum Christi’s members.
The Regnum Christi Committee for the WYD is collaborating with the
Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro to offer all the groups registered as Regnum
Christi groups accommodation in well-located places, according to the
division policy by languages. In order to achieve this, the group leader must
send an email to grupos.rc@wydrio2013.org including the enrollment code of
the group that can be found in the WYD official website (www.rio2013.com)
(e.g. 7ESP 123456).
First-come, first-served! Remember that you have more possibilities of
being with your whole group if you register as soon as you can!
Accommodation for ECYD male section
The information for the ECYD children of the Colegio Everest was already
published. Basic information:
Date: From July 20th to July 29 th
Ages: Teenagers from ECYD between 13 and 18 years old.
Price: Between R$70 and R$100 (depending on the date of payment)

Regnum Christi’s Mass
On July 29 th , the day after the closing ceremony of the WYD Rio 2013, we will
have the Regnum Christi’s mass: the most important event of the RC during
the WYD! Get ready for this great event!
During the upcoming newsletters and via our official media we will confirm
the additional activities we will organize as Regnum Christi, with specific
details in order for you to be prepared and for you to actively participate
with us as a family.

Updates from Rio’s Archdioceses concerning WYD
We suggest that the groups get enrolled as soon as possible to sure the accommodation together. You
can enroll even if the group is not yet confirmed or definite (number of participants, payments, etc.).
The buses will not be able to drive along in Rio during the days of the WYD (from July 23 rd to July 28 th ).
The groups coming by bus must be authorized in advance by the COL (Local Organization Committee)
and must follow the rules established by this committee.
Additional accommodation after the WYD: if your group needs accommodation for the days following
the WYD, the group leader must contact COL (Local Organization Committee) and inform them as soon
as possible. The accommodation for the pilgrims will be available from July 21 st to July 30 th .
We suggest the international pilgrims to exchange currencies from home currency to Real ($R) in their
home countries since a high demand of Real during the WYD is expected.

Regnum Christi's presence at the pre-WYD
There are a lot of events previous to the WYD. Take a look at some of the pictures of the members in the main events.
NEW YEAR IN THE CORCOVADO
Even during holidays, the members of RC in Rio
de Janeiro don’t stop praying for the WYD: in
January, they actively participated in a vigil and
mass to pray for the WYD; some of them read
the Prayer of the Faithful in different languages.
They also organized confessions together with
the priest André Wobeto, LC.
TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS IN “CANÇÃO NOVA”
Some of the Regnum Christi’s
members along with consecrated
women and legionaries had the
chance to end last year 2012 right by
Christ the Redeemer, in a mass
chaired by the archbishop of Rio,
Dom Orani Tempesta.
VIGIL
In February, Regnum Christi’s lay
members who are also volunteering for
the WYD participated together with
Canção Nova in an event that aimed the
preparation and training for volunteers
at the WYD. They spent three days with
lectures, workshops, adoration and
mass.

The Legionaries of Christ and members of Regnum Christi would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude
for the fatherly concern that you have shown to our spiritual family during your pontificate. Thank you
for the firm and kind hand with which you have led us forward along this journey of purification and
renewal that fills us with such hope. Since you have done so much for us, leading us both personally
and by means of your delegate, the news of your resignation fills us with sadness. And yet, this
manifestation of your great love for the Church, your trust in God and your profound humility also fills
us with admiration and filial esteem.
This Ash Wednesday, as an expression of our affection and unconditional adherence to the Successor
of Peter, the Legionaries of Christ and the consecrated members of Regnum Christi joined you for the
general audience and the Mass with the imposition of ashes. We would like you to know that both
now and in the next stage of your service to the Church, which will begin when your pontificate ends,
you will always enjoy a special place in our hearts and prayers.
We humbly ask for your blessing. Thank you, Holy Father, for teaching us with your words and your
deeds!

4. Habemus Papam!
Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J., Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ordinary for Eastern-rite
faithful in Argentina who lack an Ordinary of their own rite, was born on 17 December 1936 in Buenos
Aires. He studied as and holds a degree as a chemical technician, but then chose the priesthood and
entered the seminary of Villa Devoto. On 11 March 1958 he moved to the novitiate of the Company of
Jesus where he finished studies in the humanities in Chile. In 1963, on returning to Buenos Aires, he
obtained a degree in philosophy at the St. Joseph major seminary of San Miguel.
Between 1964 and 1965 he taught literature and psychology at the Immacolata College in Santa Fe and
then in 1966 he taught the same subjects at the University of El Salvador, in Buenos Aires.
From 1967 to 1970 he studied theology at the St. Joseph major seminary of San Miguel where he
obtained a degree. On 13 December 1969 he was ordained a priest. From 1970 to 1971 he completed
the third probation at Alcala de Henares, Spain, and on 22 April 1973, pronounced his perpetual vows.
He was novice master at Villa Varilari in San Miguel from 1972 to 1973, where he also taught theology.
On 31 July 1973 he was elected as Provincial for Argentina, a role he served as for six years.
From 1980 to 1986 he was rector of the Philosophical and Theological Faculty of San Miguel as well
as pastor of the Patriarca San Jose parish in the Diocese of San Miguel. In March of 1986 he went to
Germany to finish his doctoral thesis. The superiors then sent him to the University of El Salvador
and then to Cordoba where he served as a confessor and spiritual director.
On 20 May 1992, John Paul II appointed him titular Bishop of Auca and Auxiliary of Buenos Aires.
He received episcopal consecration in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires from Cardinal Antonio
Quarracino, Apostolic Nuncio Ubaldo Calabresi, and Bishop Emilio Ognenovich of Mercedes-Lujan
on 27 June of that year.
On 3 June 1997 he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Buenos Aires and succeeded Cardinal
Antonio Quarracino on 28 February 1998.
He was Adjunct Relator General of the 10th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops,
October 2001. He served as President of the Bishops' Conference of Argentina from 8 November 2005
until 8 November 2011.
He was created and proclaimed Cardinal by Blessed John Paul II in the consistory of 21 February 2001, of
the Title of S. Roberto Bellarmino (St. Robert Bellarmine).
He was a member of: The Congregations for Divine Worship and Discipline of
the Sacraments; for the Clergy; and for Institutes of Consecrated Life
and Societies of Apostolic Life; the Pontifical Council for the Family;
and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
