NEW RULES FOR <strong>2012</strong> AT A GLANCE<br />

STALLION RULES<br />

Stallions – Only BSPA Graded Stallions may compete in BSPA Affiliated<br />

Shows in either World of Colour (WCC) classes or Royal International Horse<br />

Show (RIHS). As from 1st January <strong>2012</strong> every competing BSPA Graded<br />

Stallion must have a Graded Stallion ID Card which must be carried into the<br />

ring <strong>and</strong> produced on request. Failure to do this will result in disqualification<br />

– Stallion Cards may be obtained from the BSPA Office free of charge.<br />

Bridle discs issued by other organisations or societies MAY NOT be worn by<br />

any dual graded BSPA Stallion when competing in BSPA Affiliated Classes. If<br />

you enter the ring with a bridle disc on your stallion you will be asked to<br />

remove it. The class will not be held up whilst this task is completed, <strong>and</strong> you<br />

may be disqualified.<br />

NOVICE CLASSES<br />

In all Novice Classes horses <strong>and</strong> ponies must be shown in a snaffle bridle<br />

with a simple cavesson noseb<strong>and</strong>, no martingales are to be worn. The<br />

definition of novice is: A horse or pony not to have won more than two firsts<br />

or have competed at RIHS or HOYS. This class is designed for young horses<br />

<strong>and</strong> ponies seeking to gain more experience.<br />

IDENTIFICATION OF HORSES AND PONIES<br />

The identification of horses <strong>and</strong> ponies registered with BSPA must be in<br />

accordance with the sketch in the horse or pony’s passport. Markings must<br />

not be enhanced, covered up, or covered in excessive make-up. Those<br />

breaking this rule will not be allowed to compete. Please note exhibitors are<br />

required by DEFRA to carry with them passports for all animals when<br />

competing <strong>and</strong>/or travelling.<br />

RIHS QUALIFICATION<br />

First place in each section <strong>and</strong> the next unqualified competitor st<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

second or third qualifies. No qualification may come out of lower than third<br />

place.
