Vinyl Fence How To...
A. Check Building Code -- Before deciding on
your new vinyl fence, be sure to check local
building codes and neighborhood deed
restrictions to understand what types and
maximum height of fence you can erect on
your property as well as any property line
setback requirements. Your Shoreline Vinyl
Systems Authorized Dealer can assist you in
planning your new fence so that it will be
code-compliant.
B. Purpose of Fence -- Is your new fence for
safety, security, privacy, and/or beautifying
your property? Based upon the purpose of
the fence, decide if you want a privacy, semiprivacy,
pool, picket, or post and rail type of
fence. See pages 6 through 34 for examples.
C. Choose a Style -- Look at the fence styles
available for the category you chose. Decide
the style, options, and accent top(s) that best
suit your needs and unique preferences.
D. What Color(s)? -- Decide the color of your
new vinyl fence. Most styles are available in
White, Almond, Khaki, and Gray. Consider
mixing colors for a two-tone appearance; for
example, white posts and rails with almond

E. How Tall? -- Decide the height
of your fence and consider the

G. Need any Gates? --
Convenient access to your
fenced-in area should be
explored. What type of access,
how secure, and how wide
does it need to be for lawn-care
equipment? Shoreline Vinyl
Systems can custom-fabricate
most any size one-leaf and twoleaf
gates for your chosen style.

H. Sketch a Plan -- Decide where
you want to place your new
fence and draw a rough sketch
of your property, buildings, and where you want
to place your new fence.
I. Present your Ideas -- Meet with your Shoreline
Vinyl Systems Authorized Dealer and present
your research, ideas and rough sketch. They will
have the experience to answer your questions
and help you finalize your plan.

J. Get a Quote -- Your Dealer Representative
will work up a final plan, considering all your
chosen details, and provide you with a quote for
materials and installation.
K. Get your Permits -- Obtain any permits
required for the job and have them posted at the
jobsite accordingly.

L. Schedule Installation -- Your
Authorized Dealer will contact
Shoreline Vinyl Systems to place the
order of your custom-fabricated vinyl
fence and gates and schedule a timely
delivery and installation.
M. Enjoy! -- Your new vinyl fence
will provide you with years of lowmaintenance
enjoyment that never
needs staining or painting.

The Privacy fence styles are based on ⁷⁄₈-inch
thick by 6-inch wide Tongue and Groove
pickets for total privacy. The Caroline and
Sacramento styles provide complete privacy,
while the eight accent top styles offer privacy
with added elegance to your yard.

styles are based on a ⅞-inch thick by 6-inch
wide, ribbed picket placed in two offsetting
rows to allow airflow through the fence, yet
provide adequate privacy. The Lewes is the
anchor style for this group, and includes three
choices of accent top styles.
