(Money Magazine, 1998) * Minneapolis was named the “Most Athletic City” by Men’s Fitness Magazine in 2005. * Americans rated the Twin Cities as the safest major metropolitan area in the nation. (Gallup Poll, 1993) * St. Paul and Minneapolis feature all five major sports franchises. (NBA, WNBA, NHL, NFL, MLB) * Minneapolis ranks second only to New York City in the total number of theaters in the area and the number of symphony concerts per year. * 20 Fortune 500 companies are located in the Twin Cities metro area. * The Twin Cities metro area has a population of more than 2.5 million and is the nation’s 15th largest media market. MINNEAPOLIS - CITY OF LAKES A large metropolitan area with a small-town feel, Minneapolis is a vibrant art and entertainment locale with its many renowned theatres and playhouses. It owns the second-most theatre seats in the country per capita behind only New York. Consistently noted as one of the best cities in the nation to reside, Minneapolis is also known for its outdoor activities with an elaborate park system and numerous lakes within the city limits. The city has two distinct areas. Downtown Minneapolis has a lively nightlife with something for everyone.
