While Georgia con
tains comparatively
small areas of swamp
lands, there are still
seme fairly extensive
tracts to be reclaimed.
The biggest drainage
project ever undertaken
in the State is now un
der way, with contracts
let. The land to be
drained is on the Broad
River, beginning in
Stephens County, and
extending through a
great portion of Frank
lin County. The dis
trict is n miles long
and will make available
3,000 acres of bottom
land that is very fertile.
It includes 30,000 acres
on which bonds will be
placed. The work is
being done by individ
ual assessment. Sim
