COMPARE(factor) ADJ(method)<br />

means for the dependent variable. For a multivariate model, GLM<br />

collapses over any other between- or within-subjects factors.<br />

Main- or simple-main-effects omnibus tests and pairwise comparisons<br />

of the dependent variable. This option gives the mean difference, standard<br />

error, significance, and confidence interval for each pair of levels<br />

for the effect specified in the TABLES command, as well as an omnibus<br />

test for that effect. If only one factor is specified on TABLES, COMPARE<br />

can be specified by itself; otherwise, the factor specification is required.<br />

In this case, levels of the specified factor are compared with each other<br />

for each level of the other factors in the interaction.<br />

The optional ADJ keyword allows you to apply an adjustment to the confidence<br />

intervals and significance values to account for multiple comparisons.<br />

Methods available are LSD (no adjustment), BONFERRONI, or<br />

SIDAK.<br />

• The output of this analysis includes a pairwise comparisons table for the dependent<br />

variable DEP.<br />

• Assume that A has three levels and B has two levels. The first level of A is compared with<br />

the second and third levels, the second level with the first and third levels, and the third<br />

level with the first and second levels. The pairwise comparison is repeated for the two<br />

levels of B.<br />

SAVE Subcommand<br />

Use SAVE to add one or more residual or fit values to the working data file.<br />

• Specify one or more temporary variables, each followed by an optional new name in<br />

parentheses. For a multivariate model, you can optionally specify a new name for the<br />

temporary variable related to each dependent variable.<br />

• WPRED and WRESID can be saved only if REGWGT has been specified.<br />

• Specifying a temporary variable on this subcommand results in a variable being added to<br />

the active data file for each dependent variable.<br />

• You can specify variable names for the temporary variables. These names must be<br />

unique, valid variable names. For a multivariate model, there should be as many variable<br />

names specified as there are dependent variables, listed in the order of the dependent variables<br />

as specified on the GLM command. If you do not specify enough variable names,<br />

default variable names are used for any remaining variables.<br />

• If new names are not specified, GLM generates a rootname using a shortened form of the<br />

temporary variable name with a suffix. For a multivariate model, the suffix _n is added to
