CLASSMISSING Subcommand<br />

The CLASSMISSING subcommand is used to control whether user-missing values of classification<br />

(stratification and clustering) variables are treated as valid values. By default they are<br />

treated as invalid.<br />

EXCLUDE User-missing values of stratification and cluster variables are treated as invalid.<br />

This is the default.<br />

INCLUDE User-missing values of stratification and cluster variables are treated as valid<br />

values.<br />

CSSELECT always treats user-missing values of measure variables (previous weight, MOS,<br />

size, and rate) as invalid.<br />

DATA Subcommand<br />

The DATA subcommand specifies general options concerning input and output files.<br />

RENAMEVARS Keyword<br />

The RENAMEVARS keyword specifies that existing variables should be renamed when the<br />

CSSELECT procedure writes sample weight variables and stagewise output variables<br />

requested in the plan file such inclusion probabilities.<br />

• By default, an error is generated if variable names conflict.<br />

• If output data are directed to the working data file RENAMEVARS specifies that an existing<br />

variable should be renamed with a warning if its name conflicts with that of a variable<br />

created by the CSSELECT procedure.<br />

• If output data are directed to an external file RENAMEVARS specifies that a variable to be<br />

copied from the working data file should be renamed with a warning if its name conflicts<br />

with that of a variable created by the CSSELECT procedure. See the SAMPLEFILE subcommand<br />

for details about copying variables from the working data file.<br />

PRESORTED Keyword<br />

By default CSSELECT assumes that the working data file is unsorted. The PRESORTED<br />

keyword specifies that the data are sorted in advance, which may improve performance when<br />

stratification and/or clustering is requested for a large sample frame.<br />

If PRESORTED is used, the data should be sorted first by all stratification variables then by<br />

cluster variables consecutively in each stage. The data can be sorted in ascending or<br />

descending order. For example, given a sample plan created using the following CSPLAN<br />

syntax the sample frame should be sorted by Region, Ses, District, Type, and School, in that<br />

order.
