279. Killing animals with intent to steal<br />

Any person who kills an animal capable <strong>of</strong> being stolen, other than an animal to which<br />

section 268 applies, with intent to steal its skin or carcass, or any part <strong>of</strong> its skin or carcass,<br />

shall be guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and shall be liable on conviction to the same punishment as if he<br />

had stolen the animal.<br />

280. Severing with intent to steal<br />

Any person who makes anything movable with intent to steal it is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and is<br />

liable to the same punishment as if he had stolen the thing after it had become movable.<br />

281. Fraudulent disposition <strong>of</strong> mortgaged goods<br />

(1) Any person who being the mortgagor <strong>of</strong> mortgaged goods, removes or disposes <strong>of</strong> the<br />

goods without the consent <strong>of</strong> the mortgagee, and with intent to defraud, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence.<br />

(2) In this section "mortgaged goods" includes any goods and chattels <strong>of</strong> any kind, an<br />

animal, the progeny <strong>of</strong> an animal, and crops or produce <strong>of</strong> the soil, whether growing or severed,<br />

which are subject for the time being, by virtue <strong>of</strong> the provisions <strong>of</strong> any law or <strong>of</strong> any written<br />

instrument, to a valid charge or lien by way <strong>of</strong> security for any debt or obligation.<br />

282. Fraudulently dealing with minerals in mines<br />

Any person who takes, conceals, or otherwise disposes <strong>of</strong> any ore or any metal or mineral in<br />

or about a mine, with intent to defraud any person, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and is liable to<br />

imprisonment for five years.<br />

283. Fraudulent appropriation <strong>of</strong> power<br />

Any person who fraudulently abstracts or diverts to his own use or to the use <strong>of</strong> another<br />

person any mechanical, illuminating or electrical power derived from a machine, apparatus or<br />

substance, which is the property <strong>of</strong> another person, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and is liable to<br />

imprisonment for five years.<br />

284. Conversion not amounting to theft<br />

Any person who unlawfully and without colour <strong>of</strong> right, but not so as to be guilty <strong>of</strong> theft,<br />

takes or converts to his use or to the use <strong>of</strong> any other person any draught or riding animal or<br />

any mechanically propelled cycle <strong>of</strong> any description or any vessel shall be guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence<br />

and is liable to imprisonment for six months or to a fine not exceeding one thousand shillings or<br />

to both.<br />

284A. Causing pecuniary loss or damage to property <strong>of</strong> specified authority
