165. Marriage ceremony fraudulently gone through without lawful marriage<br />
Any person who dishonestly or with a fraudulent intention goes through the ceremony <strong>of</strong><br />
marriage, knowing that he is not thereby lawfully married, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and liable to<br />
imprisonment for five years.<br />
166. Desertion <strong>of</strong> children<br />
Any person who being the parent, guardian or other person having the lawful care or charge<br />
<strong>of</strong> a child whose apparent age is not more than fourteen years, and being able to maintain the<br />
child, wilfully and without lawful or reasonable cause deserts the child and leaves it without<br />
means <strong>of</strong> support, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence.<br />
167. Neglecting to provide food, etc., for children<br />
Any person who, being the parent or guardian or other person having the lawful care or<br />
charge <strong>of</strong> any child whose apparent age is not more than fourteen years and unable to provide<br />
for itself, refuses or neglects to provide (being able to do so) sufficient food, clothes, bedding<br />
and other necessaries <strong>of</strong> life for the child, so as to injure the health <strong>of</strong> that child, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an<br />
<strong>of</strong>fence.<br />
168. Master not providing for servants or apprentices<br />
Any person who, being legally liable either as a master or mistress, to provide for any<br />
apprentice or servant necessary food, clothing, or lodging, wilfully and without lawful excuse<br />
refuses or neglects to provide the same, or unlawfully and maliciously does or causes to be<br />
done any bodily harm to the apprentice or servant so that the life <strong>of</strong> that apprentice or servant is<br />
endangered or that his health has been or is likely to be permanently injured, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an<br />
<strong>of</strong>fence.<br />
169. Child stealing<br />
(1) Any person who, with intent to deprive a parent, guardian or other person who has the<br />
lawful care or charge <strong>of</strong> a child under the age <strong>of</strong> fourteen years, <strong>of</strong> the possession <strong>of</strong> that child–<br />
(a) forcibly or fraudulently takes or entices away, or detains the child; or<br />
(b) receives or harbours the child, knowing it to have been so taken or enticed away or<br />
detained,<br />
is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and is liable to imprisonment for seven years.<br />
(2) It is a defence to a charge under this section to prove that the accused person claimed in<br />
good faith a right to the possession <strong>of</strong> the child or, in the case <strong>of</strong> a child born out <strong>of</strong> wedlock, is
