124. Disobedience <strong>of</strong> lawful orders<br />

A person who disobeys any order, warrant or command duly made, issued or given by a<br />

court, an <strong>of</strong>ficer or person acting in any public capacity and duly authorised in that behalf, is<br />

guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence and is liable, unless any other penalty or mode or proceeding is expressly<br />

prescribed in respect <strong>of</strong> that disobedience, to imprisonment for two years.<br />

CHAPTER XIV<br />

OFFENCES RELATING TO RELIGION AND BURIALS (ss 125-129)<br />

Any person who destroys, damages or defiles any place <strong>of</strong> worship or any object which is<br />

held sacred by any class <strong>of</strong> persons with the intention <strong>of</strong> insulting the religion <strong>of</strong> any class <strong>of</strong><br />

persons or with the knowledge that any class <strong>of</strong> persons is likely to consider such destruction,<br />

damage or defilement as an insult to their religion is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence.<br />

126. Disturbing religious assemblies<br />

Any person who voluntarily causes disturbance to any assembly lawfully engaged in the<br />

performance <strong>of</strong> religious worship or religious ceremony is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence.<br />

127. Trespassing on burial or other places<br />

A person who, with the intention <strong>of</strong> wounding the feelings <strong>of</strong> any person or <strong>of</strong> insulting the<br />

religion <strong>of</strong> any person, or with the knowledge that the feelings <strong>of</strong> any person are likely to be<br />

wounded, or that the religion <strong>of</strong> any person is likely to be insulted thereby, commits any<br />

trespass in any place <strong>of</strong> worship or in any place <strong>of</strong> sepulture or in any place set apart for the<br />

performance <strong>of</strong> funeral rites or as a depository for the remains <strong>of</strong> the dead, or <strong>of</strong>fers any<br />

indignity to any human corpse, or causes disturbance to any persons assembled for the<br />

purpose <strong>of</strong> funeral ceremonies, is guilty <strong>of</strong> an <strong>of</strong>fence.<br />

128. Hindering burial <strong>of</strong> dead body<br />

Any person who unlawfully hinders the burial <strong>of</strong> the dead body <strong>of</strong> any person or who, without<br />

lawful authority in that behalf or otherwise than in accordance with rules made by the Minister<br />

responsible for health (which rules the Minister is hereby authorised to make) disinters, dissects<br />

or causes damage to the dead body <strong>of</strong> any person or who, being under a duty to cause the<br />

dead body <strong>of</strong> any person to be buried, wilfully and without lawful authority in that behalf neglects
