• We celebrated the year of the
Artist in 2011 and published “Art
lives here,” a printed and online
document devoted to our
creative community, galleries
and publicly viewable artwork.
• The publication and web site
also outline galleries in Ketchikan
that specialize in locally and
regionally produced artwork.
Visual artists with national credentials make Ketchikan
their home. Mary Ida Henrikson’s canvases bring to light
a forest world of spirits and history. Ketchikan boasts
talented Native and non-Native weavers using traditional
materials of the Northwest Coast; this basket was
created by Mimi Kotlarov for an invitational art exhibit.
