Nail Removal<br />
Nail removal is an elective procedure.<br />
If they were used, the End Cap and<br />
Compression Screw are removed with<br />
the Short Screwdriver Shaft and the<br />
Teardrop Handle. If Advanced Locking<br />
Mode was utilized, the most distal<br />
screw is extracted first, thus allowing<br />
access to the compression screw.<br />
The Universal Rod, Short is inserted<br />
into the driving end of the nail before<br />
all Locking Screws are removed with<br />
the Short Screwdriver Shaft and the<br />
Teardrop Handle (Fig. 86).<br />
Note :<br />
Attaching the Universal Rod<br />
to the nail first, will reduce the<br />
potential for nail migration,<br />
then the Locking Screws may be<br />
removed safely.<br />
The Slotted Hammer is used to extract<br />
the nail in a controlled manner<br />
(Fig. 87).<br />
