Grain Drills
T0 use a McCormick-Deering grain drill is to make
sure that every seed you plant reaches the right
depth in the seed trench and is properly covered
for speedy germination and quick growth. McCormick-Deering
double-run and fluted-feed grain drills
are built in plain and fertilizer types. The McCormick-Deering
power-lift drill is an ideal seeding
machine for use with Farmall tractors. It is easy to
handle and efficient in operation. With the 28-6 drill
shown in Illust. 76, pulled by a Farmall tractor, you
can sow from 45 to 50 acres a day.

The power-lift device is quite
simple in action. A slight pull
on the trip rope sets the lifting
mechanism in operation, lowering
the disks and automatically
throwing the grain feed in gear
at the same time. Another pull
on the trip rope causes the disks
to be raised and the grain feed
is automatically thrown out of
gear. These features, combined
with light draft, positive and
accurate feed, and the all-steel,
rust-resisting hopper, will satisfy
the most critical user of seeding
equipment.
McCormick-Deering Potato Planters and Diggers
cCORMICK-DEERING potato planters handle cut and
small whole seed with truly remarkable accuracy. Im-
M proved picker arms convey the seed, a piece at a time,
to the discharge boot, which conveys it to the furrow. Features
of these planters which you are sure to like are automatic control
of flow of seed from the three-bushel hoppers to the seed chambers;
short-coupled, compact, durable construction; unit control of
furrow opener and covering disks; open seed chamber which
enables operator to be sure at all times that everything is working
properly. Seed can be planted 7 to 20 inches apart in rows 32 to
38 inches apart. The planters are made in one- and two-row sizes.
They can be supplied either with or without fertilizer attachments.
A spring-tooth covering device can be supplied in place
of the disks for light covering.

It's a real pleasure to watch a Farmall and one of these

has the power to drag the shovels clear down under the
deepest spuds, and the digger can take it. As the crop
rolls out in a steady stream of clean, whole, and unbruised
spuds behind the digger, you can't help thinking what a
