Introduction to Welding<br />

Course Description<br />

Designed to instruct welders in welding safety and welding techniques<br />

utilizing various processes like Shielded Metal Arc Welding<br />

(SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc<br />

Welding (GTAW), and basic oxyfuel cutting (OFC) and plasma cutting.<br />

Course Content<br />

Day 1<br />

Introduction to welding safety and the Fill Freeze and Fast Fill groups<br />

of electrodes. One half of the stick lecture will be today. Weld with<br />

6013 flat and horizontal sheet metal. Weld with 7024-1 flat and horizontal<br />

3/8 to 1/2 inch plate, single pass and three pass.<br />

Day 2<br />

Second half of stick lecture. Cover Fast Freeze (6010 and 6011), and<br />

low hydrogen groups of electrodes. Weld flat and vertical up with<br />

both groups of electrodes.<br />

Day 3<br />

Basic MIG lecture. Weld short arc, globular, spray, pulse spray<br />

and aluminum.<br />

Day 4<br />

Basic TIG lecture. Weld on steel and stainless steel.<br />

Day 5<br />

Aluminum TIG welding. Basic oxyfuel cutting and plasma cutting.<br />

Course starting time is 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.<br />
