GENERAL Part three of this manual contains a discussion of the organization and techniques for employment of the armored cavalry platoon and its elements. The platoon is organic to the armored cavalry troop of the armored cavalry squadron in the armored division, infantry division, and armored cavalry regiment, and to the combat support company of the infantry battle group. The material covered in part three is applicable to all armored cavalry platoons. 74. Missions of the Armored Cavalry Platoon The armored cavalry platoon performs reconnaissance, provides security, and conducts light combat missions for or as part of units to which assigned or attached. The platoon can assist in damage control operations and conduct CBR monitoring and survey operations. The armored cavalry platoon engages in whatever type of action is required to accomplish its assigned missions. Section II. ARMORED CAVALRY PLATOON ORGANIZATION 75. General The armored cavalry platoon consists of a platoon headquarters, scout section, tank section, rifle squad, and a support squad (fig. 14). 76. Platoon Headquarters The platoon headquarters consists of the platoon leader and a scout driver, who rides in a l/4 -ton truck. 77. Part three of this manual contains a discussion of the organization<br />
<strong>and</strong> techniques for employment of the armored cavalry platoon<br />
