l/4-ton truck.<br />
Section III. EMPLOYMENT OF THE SCOUT SECTION<br />
67. General<br />
The scout section of the combat comm<strong>and</strong> headquarters <strong>and</strong><br />
headquarters company is usually employed as a unit. The mission<br />
assigned to the section may frequently require that the scout<br />
squads be separated; however, it is desirable that the squads operate<br />
under control of the section leader as much as possible.<br />
68. Techniques of Employment<br />
The section leader controls the activities of the section without<br />
the additional requirement of being a squad leader. This gives the<br />
section leader more freedom of action <strong>and</strong> facilitates control of the<br />
section. The techniques of employment to be used by the scout<br />
section are similar to those discussed for the scout platoon in chapter<br />
3.<br />
69. Scout Section, Reconnaissance Missions<br />
a. The scout section performs limited reconnaissance for the<br />
combat comm<strong>and</strong> headquarters. Normal tasks include reconnoitering<br />
routes <strong>and</strong> areas to be used for the combat comm<strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong><br />
post.<br />

see paragraphs 33 through 36.<br />
70. Scout Section, Security Mission<br />
The scout section provides limited security for the combat comm<strong>and</strong><br />
headquarters <strong>and</strong> headquarters company both on the move<br />
<strong>and</strong> in an assembly area. For details on the conduct of security<br />
missions, see paragraphs 37 through 41.<br />
71. Scout Section, Movement, Control, <strong>and</strong> Liaison Missions<br />
The scout section will frequently perform missions which assist<br />
in the movement <strong>and</strong> control of the combat comm<strong>and</strong> headquarters<br />
<strong>and</strong> headquarters company. Additionally, it may provide liaison<br />
with other units, <strong>and</strong> act as a contact party when required. For a<br />
