OPERATIONAL CHECKLIST<br />

1. PREPARATION FOR A MARCH<br />

a. Issue warning order as soon as notified by higher headquarters.<br />

b. Inspect maintenance, supply, <strong>and</strong> general readiness for combat.<br />

c. Study available maps <strong>and</strong> make a personal reconnaissance.<br />

d. Orient staff <strong>and</strong> subordinates.<br />

e. Receive march order from higher headquarters.<br />

f. Issue march order.<br />

g. Establish liaison with preceding unit in the march column.<br />

h. Inspect police of area.<br />

i. Report to higher headquarters when unit is ready to move<br />

out.<br />

j. Move out in order to cross start point (SP) at time designated<br />

in higher headquarters march order.<br />

2. ON THE MARCH<br />

a. Move near the head of column or in a position that facilitates<br />

control.<br />

b. Render all required reports (crossing phase lines, check<br />

points, start points, release points, etc.).<br />

c. Check unit at irregular intervals for march discipline <strong>and</strong><br />

march efficiency.<br />

d. Ensure that unit follows designated route.<br />

e. At halt, check unit.<br />

(1) Coordinate local security.<br />

(2) Receive status reports from subordinate comm<strong>and</strong>ers<br />

<strong>and</strong> report unit status to higher comm<strong>and</strong>ers.<br />

(3) Report unit's readiness to resume march.<br />

f. At halts for mess, make sure all personnel are fed.<br />

g. At unscheduled halts, check as far forward as head of preceding<br />

unit for cause. Take any necessary corrective action.<br />

h. Keep radio receiver on comm<strong>and</strong> channel of higher headquarters.<br />

Be alert for warnings of attack.<br />

i. If warning is received, alert unit.<br />

3. OCCUPATION OF ASSEMBLY AREA<br />

a. Contact guide at release point.<br />
