12. General<br />

Section II. SCOUT PLATOON ORGANIZATION<br />

The scout platoon consists of a platoon headquarters, a ground<br />

radar section, <strong>and</strong> three scout sections (fig. 2).<br />

13. <strong>Platoon</strong> Headquarters<br />

<strong>Platoon</strong> headquarters consists of a platoon leader, platoon sergeant,<br />

<strong>and</strong> two light truck drivers. Transportation consists of<br />

two 1/4 -ton trucks.<br />

14. Ground Radar Section<br />

The ground radar section consists of a senior radar operator<br />

<strong>and</strong> two assistant radar operators, one of whom is a driver. The<br />

radar equipment consists of one medium range ground radar set<br />

designed for combat surveillance. The section is transported in a<br />

3 /%-ton truck.<br />

15. Scout Section<br />

The scout section consists of two scout squads, each of six men.<br />

Each squad consists of a squad leader, assistant squad leader, two<br />

scout observers, <strong>and</strong> two drivers. Transportation consists of two<br />

I/4-ton trucks for each squad-a total of four for the section. A<br />

light machinegun, mounted in each 1/4-ton truck, provides the<br />

squad with the bulk of its firepower. The section leader also comm<strong>and</strong>s<br />

the first squad.<br />
