The Fountain Public House and No.5, the converted Wesleyan<br />

Methodist Chapel and some 19 th century and early 20 th century<br />

buildings. The road curves where it meets St Andrew’s Church that<br />

encompasses the southern end of this side of the road.<br />

9.9.4 The attractive range of 19 th century buildings opposite St Mary’s<br />

Church includes the Grade II Listed Nos.2, 4 and <strong>6.</strong> Churchgate Street<br />

opens up at this point and the churchyard provides a foil to the<br />

comparative tightness of the northern stretch of the street. This well<br />

treed space allows views across it to the recreation ground beyond on<br />

Fountain Lane.<br />
