Can Plants produce a Polymer muzzle for Insects? 1905 H Kniep carried out classical experiment on chemical defense in plants. By repeated poking the midvein of Euphorbias he drained/milked them & found them now being eaten by snails. Kniep did not know that some insects have practiced his method regularly to avoid being poisoned or muzzled alive! Drain the lactifer defense chemicals or get muzzled !!! Papaveracea – Poppy family -Opium Opium lachryma papaveris) is the dried latex from the opium poppy Papaver somniferum containing up to 12% morphine, adjusted for medicine to 10 % (Europe). Opium for illegal use is often converted into heroin, which is less bulky to smuggle & has a potency of twice that of morphine. Heroin can be taken by intravenous injection, intranasally, smoked and inhaled. Semen papaveri or poppy seeds contain a lot of oil but little morphine.
