As “The Premier International Fraternity of Engineers,” it is the only professional fraternity that draws its membership exclusively from male engineering students at ABET-accredited colleges and universities. Sigma Phi delta enjoys a close working relationship with its female counterpart, Alpha Omega Epsilon Sorority. It is a relatively young fraternity and thus a small fraternity in number of chapters and total membership, but remains well organized, and chapters are carefully supervised by the national officers and by faculty and alumni advisors. SPd is a new and original fraternity on the Virginia Tech campus, and it is striving to become well established and accepted in both the engineering communities and the Greek community alike.
