Digistrob RDS 30
5 Description of functions on the front panel
5.1 Display
The DIGISTROB RDS 30 shows the measured value with an accuracy of ± 1 digit on
the 5-digit LED display 6. Depending on the selected range, the indication is direct in
2 pulses/minute or RPM
measuring range: 150 - 22000min -1
measuring accuracy: ± 1min -1
3 Pulses/sec. or frequency in Hz
measuring range: 2,5 - 360Hz
measuring accuracy: ±0,3Hz
4 Time in ms between two pulses or period interval
measuring range: 2,5 - 400ms
measuring accuracy: ±0,2ms
When these ranges are exceeded or fallen short of, this is indicated with signal LED 5 and
the LED display 6 extinguishes.
The same happens when the input signals fluctuate strongly during the synchronization time
(a few seconds) of the PLL (Phase Locked Loop) or if they fail altogether (range fallen short
of).
Thus when the DIGISTROB RDS 30 is switched on by means of the power switch 1 and the
input signals are not yet available or fluctuate strongly, the LED display 6 remains dark.
In this event only the indication LED 5 lights up.
5.2 External triggering
The DIGISTROB RDS 30 can be triggered from outside in various manners. The following
possibilities of external triggering can be set by means of the the keys 7 - 11:
7 triggering synchronous to mains
8 via photo-electric pick-up with bright markings on the object
9 via photo-electric pick-up with dark markings on the object
10 via inductive pick-up with gear wheels
11 via inductive pick-up with aperture discs
Triggering is also possible by means of external voltage sources or
by means of Visolux pick-up circuits.
In this case the input circuit Ind A 10 / Inductive B 11 is particularly
suited for fast signals with little disturbance. But this method of
triggering is not suitable for very slow signals.
For very slow signals or such with a high disturbance factor it is recommended to lead the
triggering via Photoelectric A 8 / Photoelectric B 9.
But this triggering variant is again not suited for fast signals with fluctuating aplitude.
A wide selection of optical and inductive pick-ups and external voltage sources can be
connected to the "trigger" socket 22.
