Starting <strong>the</strong> Adventure<br />
Consider any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following ideas to<br />
involve <strong>the</strong> player characters with <strong>the</strong> cult<br />
<strong>of</strong> Zath in Yezud:<br />
<strong>The</strong> wealth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> spider-temple and <strong>the</strong><br />
beauty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> temple-virgins is well known<br />
across <strong>the</strong> <strong>Hyborian</strong> world. Few adventurers<br />
would resist a simple mission to loot<br />
and kidnap — but <strong>the</strong> temple is wellprotected.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> henchmen, relatives or patrons<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> player characters has been kidnapped<br />
by <strong>the</strong> spider-cult for eventual<br />
sacrifice. To top it <strong>of</strong>f, <strong>the</strong> kidnapped<br />
character has something <strong>the</strong> player<br />
characters need (an item, information,<br />
secret location <strong>of</strong> treasure hoard, etc.).<br />
<strong>The</strong> PCs must sneak into Yezud, rescue <strong>the</strong><br />
captive, and get him/her out again.<br />
<strong>The</strong> player characters have come into <strong>the</strong><br />
possession <strong>of</strong> an item sacred to <strong>the</strong> cult,<br />
such as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> green signet rings worn<br />
by senior priests. It’s not necesarily very<br />
valuable, but it being in <strong>the</strong> characters’<br />
hands is seen as a blasphemy. <strong>The</strong> spiderpriests<br />
can track <strong>the</strong> location <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> item<br />
using divination spells. <strong>The</strong>y want <strong>the</strong> item<br />
back, and <strong>the</strong>y want to take <strong>the</strong> characters<br />
captive and sacrifice <strong>the</strong>m for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
affront. So if <strong>the</strong> PCs fight <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong> initial<br />
attack, <strong>the</strong>re is motivation for <strong>the</strong>m to<br />
