Sour orange flowers throughout the year. However, the main season for anyone region
can be considerably different from another region, as affected by microclimate differences.
This variance is illustrated for production areas of the Central Plateau (Figures
12.2-12.4).
Utilization: The entire citrus tree is used in Haiti. Though the fruit is by far the most
important product, the trees are valued as honey plants. They provide a diverse source
ofingredients in traditional medicine, yield wood products-requiring strength and hardness,
and are planted as shade or ornamentals. Each ofthe species is unique in the contribution
ofproducts that are harvested from the plant.
