Foil printing can be
accomplished on press or off
press.
On press foiling is done prior to
the plastisol print. Glue is flash
dried enough so it is very tacky,
the foil can then be burnished
onto “hot” foil adhesive, usually a
gel printed through a 200 micron
thick stencil through a 60 mesh
screen.
Off press foiling will print the glue
last, the shirt cured in an oven
and the foil applied with a heat
transfer press. Waterbase and
discharge inks are commonly
used with this method.
