A door ajar,<br />
v<strong>is</strong>ible fragments of ano<strong>the</strong>r world<br />
captivate my mind,<br />
h<strong>is</strong>tory seeps out<br />
as I push <strong>the</strong> door.<br />
Sunlight dapples against dim shapes,<br />
spider-shrouded memories<br />
once wrapped by different hands.<br />
A fly taps continually at <strong>the</strong> glass,<br />
a lone heart-beat amid <strong>the</strong> dust.<br />
Pipes gurgle and drip,<br />
a reminder of life elsewhere.<br />
Could <strong>the</strong>se fragments be my own?<br />
My future h<strong>is</strong>tory,<br />
boxed and wrapped<br />
by unborn hands.<br />
