We would like to thank all those who gave up their time to take part <strong>in</strong> the study, particularly the<br />

district judges who agreed to be <strong>in</strong>terviewed, and the staff <strong>of</strong> landlords, advice and law centres<br />

and solicitors who attended the focus groups. <strong>The</strong> Hous<strong>in</strong>g Corporation very helpfully provided<br />

a venue for conduct<strong>in</strong>g the focus groups <strong>in</strong> London. Michael Walker, Honorary Secretary <strong>of</strong> the<br />
