This Chakkra is <strong>the</strong> seat of <strong>the</strong> Samâna, region about <strong>the</strong><br />

navel and of <strong>the</strong> Apo Tatwa.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> Manipûra Chakkra. This Chakkra is situated near<br />

<strong>the</strong> navel, it is of a golden colour and has ten petals<br />

(sometimes twelve), its adept is Rudrakhya and its goddess<br />

Lakini. It is <strong>the</strong> “solar-plexus” or “city of gems,” and is so<br />

called because it is very brilliant. This Chakkra is <strong>the</strong> seat of<br />

<strong>the</strong> Agni Tatwa. Also in <strong>the</strong> abdomen burns <strong>the</strong> “fire of<br />

digestion of food” situated in <strong>the</strong> middle of <strong>the</strong> sphere of <strong>the</strong><br />

sun, having ten Kalas (petals). . . .†<br />

He who enters this Chakkra<br />

Can made gold, etc., see <strong>the</strong> adepts (clairvoyantly) discover medicines for diseases,<br />

and see hidden treasures.‡<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> Anahata Chakkra. This Chakkra is situated in <strong>the</strong><br />

heart, it is of a deep blood red colour, and has twelve petals.<br />

It is <strong>the</strong> seat of Prâna and is a very pleasant spot; its adept is<br />

Pinaki and its goddess is Kakini. This Chakkra is also <strong>the</strong> seat<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Vâyu Tatwa.<br />

He who always contemplates on this lotus of <strong>the</strong> heart is eagerly desired by <strong>the</strong><br />

daughters of gods . . . has clairaudience, clairvoyance, and can walk in <strong>the</strong><br />

air. . . . He sees <strong>the</strong> adepts and <strong>the</strong> goddesses. . . . §<br />

5. <strong>The</strong> Vishuddha Chakkra. This Chakkra is situated in <strong>the</strong><br />

throat directly below <strong>the</strong> larynx, it is of a brilliant gold<br />
