Deryng<strong>to</strong>n, rec<strong>to</strong>r <strong>of</strong> chapel <strong>of</strong> Hordley (Horyleg'),<br />

service lawfully <strong>to</strong> be celebrated <strong>the</strong>re, provided<br />

that no prejudice will be caused <strong>to</strong> his mo<strong>the</strong>r<br />

church, reserving <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> bp. <strong>the</strong> power <strong>to</strong> revoke<br />

<strong>the</strong> grant.<br />

935 (Fo. 65) 12 January 1310, Ran<strong>to</strong>n. Absolution<br />

<strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> bp. <strong>of</strong> Richard de Legh<strong>to</strong>n, knt., from a<br />

sentence <strong>of</strong> excommunication which he incurred on<br />

account <strong>of</strong> his manifold contumacies made in <strong>the</strong><br />

bp. 's consis<strong>to</strong>ry court at Lichfield before <strong>the</strong><br />

bp. 's commissary, enjoing him that before<br />

Michaelmas next (29 September) he should go <strong>to</strong><br />

Rome and <strong>of</strong>fer twelve pounds <strong>of</strong> waxen candles in<br />

<strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> Blessed Peter and make a similar<br />

oblation in <strong>the</strong> church <strong>of</strong> Blessed Paul, under pain<br />

<strong>of</strong> 40 marks.<br />
