802 24 March 1311, Eccleshall (Eccleshal). Know<br />

all present and future that Walter bp. <strong>of</strong> Coventry<br />

and Lichfield gives, grants and <strong>by</strong> this his<br />

present charter confirms <strong>to</strong> John de Heth and<br />

Isabella his wife fifteen acres <strong>of</strong> his waste with<br />

its appurtenances in <strong>the</strong> terri<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>of</strong> Prees (Prez)<br />

lying beneath <strong>the</strong> Lea (le Lee) <strong>of</strong> which William de<br />

Thorpwatervill previously held eight acres from<br />

<strong>the</strong> bp. To have and <strong>to</strong> hold <strong>the</strong> said fifteen acres<br />

<strong>of</strong> waste with its appurtenances <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> aforesaid<br />

John and Isabella and <strong>the</strong>ir lawfully begotten<br />

heirs, or those <strong>to</strong> be begotten, from <strong>the</strong> bp. and<br />

his successors freely, quietly, well and in peace<br />

forever, rendering annually <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> bp. and his<br />

successors 7s. 6d. at <strong>the</strong> usual terms in his manor<br />

<strong>of</strong> Prees (Prez). If <strong>the</strong> said John and Isabella<br />

should die without a lawfully begotten heir, <strong>the</strong><br />

bp. wishes and grants for himself and his<br />

successors that <strong>the</strong> aforesaid fifteen acres <strong>of</strong><br />

waste with its appurtenances wholly should revert<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> bp. and his successors. The bp. and his<br />

successors will warrant and defend forever <strong>the</strong><br />

aforesaid fifteen acres <strong>of</strong> waste with its<br />

appurtenances <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> said John and Isabella. In<br />

witness <strong>of</strong> which <strong>the</strong> bp. has affixed his seal <strong>to</strong><br />
