chancery. The proc<strong>to</strong>r swore canonical obedience<br />

etc. The vicar-general declared that <strong>by</strong> such an<br />

admission he did not intend <strong>to</strong> fully approve <strong>the</strong><br />

privileges which Ingelard claimed himself <strong>to</strong> have.<br />

special grace, <strong>of</strong> Adam son <strong>of</strong> William de<br />

Donecastr', subd., <strong>to</strong> chantry <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Blessed<br />

Virgin in church <strong>of</strong> St John, Chester; patron, John<br />

de Orre<strong>by</strong>, knt. He shall cause himself <strong>to</strong> be<br />

ordained <strong>to</strong> all o<strong>the</strong>r successive orders without<br />

interruption and he will personally serve at <strong>the</strong><br />

same altar as is cus<strong>to</strong>mary, o<strong>the</strong>rwise this grace<br />

will be <strong>of</strong> no consequence.<br />
