Instrumentation and Orchestration as an instrument adding brilliance to “lively pieces, and<br />
pompous marches in military music.” It is included as pavillon chinois in his Symphonie<br />
funébre et triomphale. 16 There were no orchestral compositions found during this study,<br />
however, to indicate the instrument survived beyond its role in the eighteenth-century<br />
homogeneous Turkish percussion section.<br />
