Cassel’s METAL SHARK® 2
Free style teach area
With the new Metal Shark® 2, the teach area is
pre-determined in accordance with the product
effect with Cassel free-style, exclusive
Four-Quadrant technology. Metal signals are
detected because the teach area is minimized.
Two rail teach area
Other metal detectors
Common metal detectors pre-determine the
teach areas in accordance with product effect
with very simple rails. Some metal signals
cannot be detected because they fall inside
the two rails area.
No maintenance electronics
Cassel Four-Quadrant November 2010 © Magnetic Products, Inc.
Automatic balance and calibration of electronics
ensures many years of reliable performance. After
initial set up, no further adjustment of electronics
is needed.
Intuitive operation
The display panel shows only the information needed
to operate the detector. Easy-to-use software and
a simple teaching menu allows set up and use by
non-technical personnel. Over 120 products can be
stored and recalled. Password protection ensures
that only authorized users operate equipment.
Outstanding sensitivity and stability
New “recipes” or changes to current data are easily
programmed. Digital noise filters eliminate any
undesired signals, while multichannel technology
provides optimum detection of ferrous, nonferrous or
stainless steel contaminants. The integrated sensor
is built to withstand the rigors of a harsh production
settings. Key internal electronics are fully protected
and reliably perform in even the most challenging
wet or dry environments.
Powerful electromagnetic field
More features and benefits
Cassel’s electromagnetic field is much stronger than
needed, eliminating “noise” disturbances from outside
forces which can hamper equipment effectiveness. A
powerful electromagnetic field provides excellent signalto-noise
ratio.
Epoxy-encapsulated sensor
The tunnel aperture is encapsulated with epoxy (meets
food standards), ensuring that the sensor remains dry
and hygienic. While competitors often use plastic shafts
affixed with silicon, Cassel Metal Detectors boast a solid
sealed block.
High-speed digital signal processor (DSP)
Highly effective high-speed processors support digital
filters to provide:
• more efficient product-effect-compensation (needed
in the food industry)
• more effective noise reduction, allowing
identification of even the smallest metal particles
HACCP and IFS Compliance
Per HACCP principles, metal detectors are
considered a critical control point and continuous
checking is required to meet standards. MPI metal
detectors can be programmed to automatically
remind the operator to test equipment performance
at pre-set intervals. Metal contaminant detections,
changes in parameter settings, etc., are logged
with both date and time. The log can be viewed
on screen or downloaded via a serial port. To
fulfill HACCP and IFS standards, data can be
downloaded to a Windows-based PC.
Extremely durable electronic systems
Although more costly to manufacture, Cassel’s
electronic components
include the bare minimum
of potentiometers and plug
connections. This design
assures extreme durability
and no loose contacts
or corrosion on contact
surfaces. Competitors often
rely on low-cost tiny plugs
to connect internal electrical and board components,
which lead to loose contacts and unstable operation.
Oversized sensor housing
Other features and benefits
Cassel metal detectors
are larger than competitor
counterparts. This means
that the electromagnetic
field is more effectively
protected and minimizes
outside disturbances. A
higher-weight sensor is less
susceptible to vibration.
New single board technology
A newly developed control unit uses state-of-the-art
SMD technology to reduce noise and guard against
interference from power supply fluctuations.
Digitalized circuitry and product-effect
compensation
Extensive use of digital components assures longterm
precision. An ultra-fast processing speed of
50 MPIS (million instructions per second) allows for
sophisticated self-adapting, real-time noise filters.
Network interface
RS232 and RS485 are standard / Ethernet optional
Input and output signals
All alarm systems are supported.
Automatic self-adjustment
Self-adjusting operation frequency and circuitry makes
the metal detector extremely user-friendly.
