course and are the only rounds when the course record may be challenged.
Rules for Ambrose Play
A team stroke event usually played by a group of four, but can be any
number. Each player plays a tee shot at each hole. The captain then selects
the best drive which is then played by its owner. The other Members retrieve
their balls and in turn place with one club-length of the selected position
and play their second shots. This procedure of selecting the best position
continues until a ball is holed. When on the green, balls are placed on the
selected spot. The score for the team on each hole is the best score of any
of its players. In the interest of speedy play, it is imperative that each team
appoints a team captain (usually the lowest marker) whose duty it is to select
the ball to be played and generally to direct the order of play of the other
players in the team.
Jan-1 Wed NEW YEARS DAY
Won a Trophy Lately?
Isn’t it a great feeling to play a super round of golf and pick up the day’s
event and the trophy that goes with it?
Isn’t that what it’s all about?
And did you know that here at Shepparton, you play for trophies that
are the equal of those provided at any other club? That’s not bad.
And want to know something else? Most of these trophies are provided
by sponsors. The very same people you play golf with. Not big
corporations, just the average small business person who knows how
hard it is but does it because they love the Club and want to help.
So, next time you win a trophy, spare a thought for the person who
may have donated the trophy.
Take the time to ring the sponsor, drop in or even write. But please,
make some contact and thank them for their trophy. That’s the sporting
thing to do, isn’t it?
Even better, take note of all our many sponsors and next time you
need to buy something or require some service or other, think of our
sponsors and support them.
Sponsors, who needs them? Your golf Club does, that’s who!
