The Sudan savanna stretches from central Senegal, central Mali, southern Burkina Faso<br />

and Niger, northern Nigeria, and central Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, northeast Uganda and<br />

central Tanzania. Table 1 describes the typical rainfall, length <strong>of</strong> growing season, the<br />

predominant vegetation, and common crops found for these zones.<br />
