especially represented by Nik (84 14, 14012); from this
text one could add 52 9, 74 29, 7830, 84 38, 85 25; Mik
has one instance (7065). The "Bergr-text" Guam
offers some more examples: 99 6, II0 27, 144 1. - The
negative form 6tilheyriligr is documented by Fritzner
only from Stj6rn (34 24); one more instance from the
same text (28314) is recorded in the dictionary under
tilheyriligr,
tilteyging 'attraction; instigation': syndarinnar tilteyging
og lystugleiki 14611; another instance 1462 - As well
as the latter example Fritzner has two references to my
"Bergr-texts", including the authentic Nik: ovinarins
tilteyging 87 9 . T6mas offers at least one more
instance (4063).
yfirvcettis 'extremely': Yfirurettis storar aar falla urn
Indialand 69 15; other examples 141, 1720, 5810, 5830,
63 34, 85 21, 87 27, 99 32, 14222, 155 37, 156 4, 203 4 , 2II 26,
220 12, 224 28, 25116, 253 2, 254 24, 258 2 3. - Fritzner
records 6 cases, one of them from Nik (149 36), the rest
from our section of Stj6rn. But in fact Nik has so
many examples that their frequency, in relation to the
size of the text, exceeds that of Stj6rn; besides the one
quoted in the dictionary I have found 10 more:
62 37, 63 6, 68 13, 100 15, 105 25, 112 34, 119 22, 121 27, 12 4 26 ,
155 25. Elsewhere the word is completely lacking in
HMS - with the exception of one instance in Mik
(70238)! It is also represented in Guam, though not as
abundantly as in Nik: 58, 175 12, 18312. The adverb
yfirvcettis is thus safely documented as a "Bergrword".
26 Its high frequency in our section of Stj6rn
is perhaps to be ranked as the most striking similarity
with Bergr Sokkason's vocabulary.
prekkr 'dirt, mud': bera prekk ok leir i laupum i brott fra
aullum bseium ok stra-tum 247 22. - Fritzner records
only two additional examples of this extremely
,. Cf, ibid., r89.
