Once again it is significant that the example from
Jon B is lacking in the corresponding passage of
Jon A.
kinnroai 'blush (because of shame)': uiliandi helldr pola
kinnroda. med Marie Magdalene 1720. - In a note (p. 34)
Miss Fell refers to a passage in Marthe saga ok Marie
Magdalene (HMS I, 51822; the same word is repeated
twice on the same page: 51816, 51818).
However, the noun kinnroai is also used in Jon B:
prestrinn frer her af nokkvarn sva kinnrcoa ok
fyrirlitning 220 12, without any counterpart in A. This
is certainly no frequent word, if we are to judge from
HMS. With the exception of the 3 cases just referred
to in Marthe saga ok Marie Magdalene it occurs twice in
Antonius saga (181 23, 89 32) and - characteristicallytwice
in Nik, in one of the latter instances with a rather
close resemblance to Jon B: kinnroda skriptandi
101 22; i brigdzli ok kinnroda fyrirlitningar 133 37.
On the whole kinnroai seems to appear more often in
my "Bergr-texts" than in other religious writings.
Thus we meet it several times in Tomas (40433, 41438)
and Guam (77 25 , 93 19, 97 32, 149 23).

This word is certainly especially well represented in
the "Bergr-texts", as I have pointed out in another
connection.s! Thus we find it in Nik (106 12, 1074,
13018), and also in Tomas (3002, 30731, 479 5, 49632) and
Guam (7 28 ) .
