(Mantrahiaam kriyahinam yat krutam poojanam hareh,<br />

Sarvam sampoorñatãmeti krute nirãjne shive.)<br />

The glory of arti is so described that the<br />

worshipper not having undertaken any of the<br />

above pooja rituals or mantra recitation, neverthe<br />

less experience a great sense of bliss. This highlights<br />

the importance of arti in pooja worship.<br />

‘Nirajanam’ is another word for ‘Arti’ which<br />

should be carried out by lighting a number of<br />

‘Dhoop’ sticks and ‘deep’ items. The<br />

‘Nirajanams’ are offered by making frontal rounds<br />

before the idol of the God, providing perfect visibility<br />

of each and every divine parts of the idol of<br />

God, thus giving the benefit of great enjoyment<br />

to the devotee.<br />
